I booked two NON-SMOKING rooms at this hotel last Nov. 3 through hotwire. I must say that the hotel has a great location, only a few-minute drive from Charleston Downtown.

We checked in late that night and were greeted by an unfriendly front-desk staff. He was on his cell phone when we stepped in and didn't look happy to see us. He asked to see my ID, so I showed it through the plastic sleeve of my wallet. He then got agitated a bit and said that he needed to have it. How would I know when he wasn't clear about what he wanted.

On the way to our room, the hallway all smelled smoke, and our room had strong cigaret smoke. I was deeply disappointed because prior to our stay, I called the hotel and specifically confirmed on our non-smoking room. The staff on the phone that day told me that all rooms at the hotel are non-smoking.

Despite a good location, I would never come back to this hotel because of unfriendly staff and dishonesty.

We stayed one night in order to catch the Carnival Fantasy out of Charleston the next day. We couldn't beat the price, we paid around 105.00 for the night and BW allows you to leave your car on their lot at no extra charge while your on your cruise.
The hotel and room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The inside is a little dated but not bad. They offer a complimentary breakfast that includes muffins, waffles, cereal, eggs, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, fruit, juice, and coffee.
The location of the hotel is very convenient to downtown and to the beaches. We would stay here again.

The Best Western is situated around several other motel/hotel joints and is centrally located for points around Mt. Pleasant and Charleston with good access to the bridge across the river. The hotel is a definite upgrade from places like the Red Roof Inn: the lobby is pleasant if simple, a minimal breakfast was included, and the bathrooms are relatively well-appointed. However, our room had issues with extreme humidity, even though the air conditioner was turned on for the entirety of our stay. The humidity was so intense that the bedsheets felt uncomfortably damp and a musky smell hung over the slightly worn and tight room. The second room in our reservation didn't suffer from the humidity issue.

The only part of my weekend in the Charleston area I didn't like was the time I spent in the hotel. I had a very small room that was difficult to move around in. TV didn't work but I don't watch TV much so it didn't matter. The staff was very good but the hotel is kind of old and beat up. It's definitely a 2 star hotel as advertised.
