“Nice little Italian spot in Mt Pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Perfect for a sunday evening --- we tried a well reviewed Amalfis not too far from IOP and Sullivans Island in MTP. The food was very good and the service was VERY friendly. Traditional classics like Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm, fresh Seafood Pasta, mozz and tomato salad, were all solid and tasty. Food across the board was very good, service was great. Décor is a bit antiseptic -- but the team at Amalfis is trying hard to make it a good experience. Although we didn't have one -- the pizza oven was putting out some great looking pizzas as well. Wine was inexpensive and the food was was very reasonably priced. Families or couples -- enjoyable break from the local SC cuisine.

“A Pleasant discovery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

July 28, 5 adults went to Amailfi's on a whim from one couple who wanted to try some new restaurants, and 1 person wanted Italian. Very pleasant experience: not fancy; not high class; good tasty satisfying food. This is a "local spot" chalkboard specials outside; plain décor inside; closed upstairs (with steep 24-stair flight) that seats another 30 - 40 people. Waiter was attentive and knowledgeable; quick with drinks for two, reasonably good service although 2 of us had difficulty making up their minds, which slowed him down. Two specials off the chalkboard were no longer available, too popular, and explained right away. All food is made on site, with one exception -forgotten what it was, but we didn't have it. Food was good: fresh home-made Italian buns; spicy sausage with penne was very very good; lobster ravioli was "pretty good"; ravioli with meat filling drew shrugs and dislike; 2 people shared a monster pizza that was described as "exceptionally good" (16inch house special with added spinach). Prices were good; food came with no problems; one of the couple insisted on paying for themselves, and bill-splitting not an issue. During our meal, 5 or 6 people came in to pick up pizzas for take-away. On leaving, talked to the owner and chef through the kitchen galley. .

“Excellent Italian Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

We have picked this restaraunt based on the Trip Advisor #5 ranking. We were not disapointed. The food was excellent. I had the veal parmigia, my wife had the eggplant pamigia and my mother-in-law had the chicken marsala. We all thought this was some of the best italian food that we have ever had. A definate place to eat.

“Good food. Lacking in ambience.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This is a place for quick Italian. Good prices. Large serving portions.
Decor of the restaurant was very plain. Service was acceptable, but not outstanding. The waiter was not cognizant of what the dishes entailed. And he did not seem engaged or interested in the restaurant/menu.
I am surprised that this restaurant has such a high rating in Mt. Pleasant.

“Lacking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

Service was terrible. Our drinks stayed empty. No ice in our drinks. Had to ask server twice for olives for my salad. Took forever to get our checks. To top it off, our server was apparently one of the better ones since she was training a new staff member. Food was meh. My stromboli wasn't cut and it was burned on the bottom. Boyfriends pasta was cold when it got to the table. Gross. I will not be going back.
