Owner description: Called the crown jewel of Mount Pleasant, Memorial Waterfront Park offers more than just your average park. Located under the grand entryway to the town, at the base of the Ravenel Bridge, this park has plenty of lawn for enjoying family picnics, a nautical-themed playground modeled after the bridge that provides shade and the boats that pass by in the harbor, and soft-serve ice cream from the River Watch Cafe. The cafe offers beautiful views of Charleston Harbor and a 1,250-foot-long pier where you can sit and swing a while. Memorial Waterfront Park is also home to the Sweetgrass Cultual Arts Pavilion, War Memorial and Visitor Center.

“This should be the #1 attraction in Mt. Pleasant. So very beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

The views from this area are the best of any (in my opinion). I am so glad we stopped by here. The War memorial was so touching. The statue, the water feature, the pergola and the plaques in this memorial were very impressive. Because it's set off from the walkway, I can see how some people would miss it or just walk by. Stop by and see it! You will love it! And the views from this vantage point are gorgeous. As you walk out onto the pier from the park, you can get fantastic views of the Yorktown, of the marshy areas and beautiful homes to the right, the covered swings along the long pier, and looking up at the amazing Ravenel Bridge directly above you make this a must see. I took hundreds of pictures. It was quiet and not terribly crowded. I liked this Waterfront Park so much better than the Waterfront Park in Charleston. Speaking of which, you get an awesome view of the Charleston shoreline from this vantage point. Also, the restrooms at the Visitors Center were suprisingly fancy and pretty. There are so many things to see in this area. Plan to spend at least half a day and drive around to the different locations off of the roads. There is a marina (private) down at the end of the street with absolutely perfect spots to take pictures of the Yorktown, as well as the many hundreds of boats that line the shore. They give sailing lessons there, too. You will be glad you came to this area!

“Nice / Peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We drove here one evening from our (very) nearby hotel. It was a nice evening for a walk. The kids played on the playground for awhile also. There is a gift shop that has food/drinks/ice cream & some souvenirs. You can fish here too. There is a fee - sorry I'm didn't inquire on the price.

It is the nicest pier I've been on. It is new & made of concrete & in the harbor. The typical piers I've been on are wooden & subject to the harsher wave action on the beach.

“nice park and pier.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

There is a children's play park with a miniature copy of the bridge underneath the Ravenel bridge, kids love it. The town recently took out the paid parking kiosks which allows all day unlimited parking. Great spot to park if climbing over the Ravenel bridge (bring water). The park itself is well kept and safe, as is the pier under the bridge. Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

“Beautiful View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Beautiful scenery. To be able to go out onto the water like that is just wonderful. Have been here a few times, but my most recent trip was this month. Always worth a trip here when I'm back in the country visiting. Best part this time is it seems they have removed the parking meters that used to exist here. Wonderful change!!

“Great place to fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Take some time to fish the pier, and check out all the cool boats going by. you can rent poles or just get bait right there on the pier.
