“The Marina is Fabulous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

The marina is a marvelous place. I stayed with a friend on his sail boat. Sean and his crew were very friendly and helpful. Always available for help docking or whatever. The marina is very clean and was very quiet at night. And the proximity to the Yorktown etc. is also very nice.

Thank you very much for the lovely review of our property. We like to think our marina is the premier location to dock your boats at in Charleston. We'll see you next time your in town.

This is a nice hotel. It has a nautical themed and is 3 floors tall.
Staff were decently pleasant, but not overly so. They could stand to be a bit nicer, but I won't complain.
The room was fairly spacious and well laid out and the grounds were very well groomed. It was definitely well thought out and had a nice ambiance to it.
We only stayed on night, so I can't speak for the amenities or any of the food. But the bathroom towels were very soft.
This resort is a little lower priced than those in Charleston proper because it's across the bridge. But I think with the ferry option and the free trolley, that makes it all that more enticing.

This resort is right next to the Yorktown and the ferry. So, it's kind of a cool location. Make sure to check the ferry times as well though. There is a cost for the ferry into town.

There's a free trolley that takes you back and forth from downtown Charleston. It's about a 15 minute trip, only because the trolley doesn't go too fast and there are several stop lights once in Charleston. There are only select pick up times, so make sure to check those. The last time to get the trolley back to the hotel is 10:15p.m.

This resort is a little lower priced than those in Charleston proper because it's across the bridge. But, I think with the ferry option and the free trolley, provided by the hotel, that that makes it all that more enticing. I would definitely recommend this venue.

Room Tip: Make sure to check trolley times. They don't run 24/7

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to write us such a great and detailed review of our property. Hopefully it will assist travelers in selecting the right property for their needs. We have a more quiet and relaxed scene here rather than the hustle and bustle of downtown. Along with that our trolley takes you to the historic district and drops you off on Market Street right in the heart of downtown Charleston. We do regret that our staff didn't "Wow" you with their friendliness, and we'll certainly address that with them. Thanks a lot and we hope to see you again soon.

A group of couples went down to Charleston for MDW and we actually stayed at various places around town. My wife and I chose the Harbor Resort as we wanted something a little more quite, a good pool setup, and a view of the water... Like you see in those commercials.. we hit the jackpot with this place, and there were many a high five that weekend!!

When we first arrived that Friday evening, we thought the exact opposite was going to occur. The road was packed coming up to the resort entrance. We had to verify our name with resort personnel, which was on a list. As we drove down to the hotel area, I dropped my wife off to check in and I went to park. Guess what... No where to park, it was mayhem. I went back a parked under car port and went inside to voice my irritation. The first person I came across happened to be the hotel manager. Young guy, I think his name was Jason, that was my only encounter with him. Without hesitation he went outside with me to view the situation, then offered to move his car so I could have his parking spot. It was awesome! After that, all went smooth as silk. Some of our friends even came over to hang out at the pool one day.

As far as the room goes - It was great. Had a king bed and two cushioned arms chairs in it. We didn't want to pay for the waterside so we overlooked the parking lot. We only slept in the room so no big deal to us. The view was better at the end of their pier anyways. Would highly recommend!

We greatly appreciate you choosing to stay with us on your Memorial Day weekend vacation. It was a fun weekend for the staff, as well. Fridays during the spring and early summer are always very busy. We host a big local event (free to resort guest) every Friday for 10 weeks. There are 2 bands that perform on the beach along with food and drink vendors. Needless to say we have to monitor parking very closely. We are glad to hear that you were able to find a spot in a timely manner. Thank you very much for the great review and we hope to see you again soon.

This is a great place to stay! We have stayed in the hotel, as well as we sometimes dock our boat in the marina. (The Marina and staff are great, too!) The rooms are nice, but what I love the most are the amenities and location! You can take a shuttle or water taxi to downtown. The USS Yorktown is right next door. We have eaten at the Reel Bar (decent food, neat atmosphere with all the fishing rods.) The pool/beach area is very nice, and very tropical/resort like. The pool has padded lounge chairs with plenty of towels, a hot tub and tiki bar. Our children love the kids activities in-season. There is a LARGE inflatable waterside from about 11 am-4 pm, and adults only can slide from 4-5, although I wasn't brave enough for that!! The slide provides great entertainment for children, and some great people-watching during adult only slide time! LOL! There are many children's activities offered with the recreation staff such as face painting, games on the beach, water balloons, water melon eating contests, crab races, nature walks, etc. (Activities vary, and probably some are seasonal or offered on holiday weekends, so you must check the schedule.) The recreational staff is great! At night, they light several fire pits, and you can purchase a s'mores kit and roast smore's. The Fish House Restaurant is next door, and is a great food option. I would highly recommend this resort for a weekend getaway for couples or family.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view, and upgrade if you can!:)

Thank you very much for the lovely review and for stay with us once again. It brings us a tremendous amount of excitement to read about how much you enjoyed your visit with us. We are equally thrilled that you were able to take advantage of all the resort has to offer. Amy and her recreation team do a great job planning and executing fun activities for the whole family. They will be on-going throughout the summer with new games popping up all the time. We look forward to your return.

I booked a package deal on a balcony room- found later not such a great price while discussing with some other travelers in the same type of room. I get it - when you book there may or may not be some relative differences in price for the same room…I can live with that.

The view was nice, the room itself, cute and painted nicely, great location, nice grounds- BUT the cons….

The room smelled like a sweaty man! That dirty human smell- I think it was mainly the rugs and the pillows.
The room needs to be deep cleaned-it looks more or less clean but really for the price should be pristine.

The room phone had the wrong room number on it- the buttons did not work, press for front desk- it was BUSY the whole stay, concierge-same…etc. Finally find out - don’t use those buttons…just press O for operator.

Ran out of toilet paper!!! No lie! $291 a night (F/Sa) and ran out of toilet paper- not even an extra roll in the room to be found. Had to call the front desk to get more.

Jetted spa tub/shower- really awkward half glass door -no shower curtain.

The staff was decent, numerous, a few super friendly- the others really seemed like they were more elite than the guests. Hello, you work at a hotel.

Food in the restaurant was fair not great.
Continental breakfast- set out to start close at 11- yogurt and mile etc just floating in melted ice- no ice anywhere.

Way overpriced for what you get…way way overpriced.

Room Tip: don’t bother with the balcony room- get the room with a view or a regular room.

We are certainly grateful you choose to stay with us on your trip to Charleston. There are many options for lodging in the low country and we are very appreciative for you business. However, it brings us great disappointment to read how unpleasant your stay with us was. I hope you were able to speak with a staff member regarding your challenges and we were able to resolve them. Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences that occurred during your stay. We would certainly like a shot at redeeming ourselves when you return to the area. Until that time please stay well.

The Charleston Harbor Resort was a nice hotel. It is in a very good location. It's a nice hotel, but its not a great hotel. The room we had was fine, but a few things made you scratch your head. The room had a small refrigerator (table top type) which was fine, but it sat on the floor. Why not put it on a stand? It looked pittiful... The "closet" was very small, so if you have many hanging clothes it would be a challenge. The front desk collects a great deal of personnal information about you when you try to check in, which really concerned me. All in all, it was still nice. If you want a place with any kind of water view in Mount Pleasant, then this would be for you. Some "views" are better than others. I would recommend it.

Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us on your trip to Charleston. All in all it seems like you had a good time and that is what's most important. We do regret that you found certain aspects of the rooms, odd. We just put refrigerators in all of our rooms as they used to be in deluxe rooms only. Unfortunately not all rooms were built to store fridges causing us to set them on the floor. We will soon have stands for all of them. If there is no address down for the reservation we will enter that information when you provide us with your credit card & driver license. We will also take down the best phone number to reach you on incase we have to get a hold of you. We apologize if it seem invasive. Hopefully we can move past these items and team up for another enjoyable Charleston getaway.

The Charleston Harbor Resort is a beautiful hotel situated on the inlet with a marina. Our room, allegedly an upgrade from the base rate, was beautiful and large but the view of water could only be obtained if you craned your neck to the right or left. We had asked for a waterfront with a balcony. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, relaxing pool and quite a large beach that are all very nice physically. We ate at both the bar for dinner and the buffet for breakfast. The food in the bar was average pub fare - about a C+. For dinner one night we ate at the Fish House adjacent to and affiliated with the hotel. It's one of those large seafood productions with equally average food. The food on the breakfast buffet was also average. The variety of items (hot and cold) were somewhat limited - scrambled eggs, grits, leathery potatoes, bacon for example. The staff was very friendly and willing to please and where there were deficiencies, when asked, they would quickly respond. Although we loved our room, the hotel is not close to other restaurants within walking distance so that guests could have a better selection of food, better quality, and greater variety. Perhaps that was the plan.

Room Tip: Confirm you get a balcony on upgrades and eat somewhere else. you will have to drive to other restau...

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to provide us with such valuable feedback. Your kind words about our appearance, room quality, and overall service is much appreciated. Those items we take great pride in. We look to improve each day we come to work. Your detailed account of went well and not so well during your stay will help us tremendously in those efforts. I am certain our culinary team would like an opportunity to reverse your opinion of their output. We do have a wide selection of food at our different dining establishments but if you are in the mood for something else we provide a trolley to historical downtown Charleston. Have a great summer and we hope to see you soon.
