“Conveniently located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

The Charleston Harbor Resort is located at Patriot's Point in Mount Pleasant at the foot of the majestic Cooper River Bridge. You can even take a water taxi from the marina at the resort into the Market area of downtown Charleston and not have to worry about driving, parking, etc.

Bring your bicycle! This is a great location for cyclists. For the serious cyclists, you can ride over the Bridge into downtown Charleston, or through old Mount Pleasant to Sullivan's Island to the Isle of Palms.
For those who enjoy a more leisurely pace, the resort has cruiser bikes you can safely ride through the Point and under the Bridge to the pier and Visitor's center located nearby.

There are plenty of places to eat and shop in Mount Pleasant and Downtown Charleston. My favorite local restaurant is Bessinger's Barbeque, located West of the Ashley on Highway 17 South. Absolutely the best beef brisket barbeque and onion rings in the world!

Take the tour boat to Fort Sumter and follow it up with a visit to the campus of the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. Go on a Friday afternoon during the school year and take in a dress parade by the cadet corps.

Charleston has too much to see in one weekend. The Resort is a great home base to explore in all directions. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are extremely comfortable. Enjoy your stay!

Room Tip: Ask about the availabilty of an upgrade room that overlooks Charleston Harbour.Great view!

Thank you for writing such a lovely review. Your reccomendation means a lot to us and is greatly appreciated. The feedback you proved was awesome and hopefully it lures more visitors to our location. The top attractions you listed are some of many sites here in the lowcountry. I really like your idea of visiting the Citadel, especially on Friday to see the cadet dress parade. They offer great tours and sometime gets looked over as things to see in Charleston.

Mt. Pleasant is a bike friendly town and we encourage all guest to bring their own. If the bikes can't join you, no worries, we have them here.

Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The handicapped room for my 88 year old Mom met all her needs. We were given exactly the room type/ view that we had reserved.
Service was the key to our stay.
First was Matthew who carried our luggage. Cheerful and not intimidated by the multiple funny little bags of an elderly lady. He offered (insisted) on doing much more than we needed him to do. Actually told my Mom to call him if she needed help with the TV, ice, temp etc.
Then, Danny and Philipp at the front desk. Check-in was beyond easy. And they were never fazed by the stupid mistakes I made like locking my key in my room. Gave me a new room simply because the TV remote didn't work, booked taxis etc. And did it all with a smile and a friendly attitude.
This is a great place to stay. Pricey but not as high as in the city with room to breath and water views.

Room Tip: I like a water view and the Yorktown view is just as good and less expensive. Depends on what you l...

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to write such a positive review. Our service is something we pride ourselves on and its awesome to read that's what stood out the most to you. Danny, Matt, and Phillip are great assets to the resort team and its good to hear that their hard work is paying off. We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon.

The resort has 3 ADA approved handicap rooms, plenty of handicap parking spots, and ramps all over the property. We have the ability to accomodate guest of all disabilites.

We stayed sadly for just one night. :( The two gentlemen at the front desk were awesome. We were able to get a GREAT price for the room. We had 2 bed with an amazing view of the U.S.S Yorktown. The kids had an absolute blast. The beds were so comfortable, I believe that it was said that it was "like sleeping on a cloud". The shuttle took us Downtown for dinner and picked us up and brought us back to the hotel. Again the kids loved it! The only thing that would have made this trip any better is if it was longer.

Thank you very much for your lovely review. It brings us great pleasure to read about how much your family enjoyed themselves during their time spent at the resort. The postive recognition you gave to certain aspects of your stay were also much appreciated. Our trolleys "Molly" and "Ollie" are a few of our most popular offerings, we are glad you were able use them.

The city and it's surrounding areas have tons to see and do. When you return to Charleston there will be plenty more to do and of course eat. We look forward to seeing and serving you when that time comes.

The room was very clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable - but it was very small. There was only one chair by a small desk. The front desk was helpful, but offered contradicting policies on microwaves in the room. Eventually they did bring up a microwave for us to use. There is a "resort fee" and extra charges for breakfast - not exactly the best value.

We greatly appreciate you making Charleston Habor Resort & Marina your vacation headquaters. The feedback you provided will be very beneficial as we're always looking to improve overall guest satisfaction

Unfortunetly most of our rooms do not have microwaves, and we only have a few to give out. The policy with microwaves is that we cannot heat up guest's food for them in a microwave we have in the back of the house. This is a FDA regulation.

The resort fee is something we inform all guest about prior to booking their reservation. The cost of the resort fee is $12/night. It covers the trolley, bike rentals, fitness center, 24 hour coffee & tea station, business center, and parking. Our breakfast consist of a full hot buffett for $12.95 and the cold buffett for $10.95.

Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.

We enjoyed a few nights here. The location is nice for visiting the general area with good access to the Ravenal bridge to the city and to Sullivan Island. The staff were polite and friendly if not a bit reserved. The room was comfortable and there were no problems except what you might find around your own home. A noisy air conditioner with a switch in need of repair, a sort of we really should get around to touching up the paint and replacing the carpet one of these days but for now it will do. That said, the area is the perfect coastal scenery. I am on the fence on the daily resort fee, we were told it was for the trolley into Charleston and the coffee, except there was coffee only one morning, we went to the breakfast area to get it the day it was not out in the lobby. One other sticking point was that the restaurant on site is closed and the option for lunch close by is The Fish House which is part of the resort. It is newer and has a very nautical feel that reminded me of Nantucket, so lovely. The food and service was just below average. I ordered the oyster plate since it is the season and I have seen signs all over for festivals. What was served was one whole oyster and oyster scraps which I have never seen before and was more deep fried breading that oyster. When the front desk person asked how was your meal I told him and he said he would mention it to the manager as they do care but I never heard anything else about it. All in all the location and the coastal feel is very good.

We are quite grateful you chose Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina for your accomodation needs. The feedback you provided was great and will be very helpful. Your detailed observation of your room will aid us in our attempt to improve overall guest experience. The items you listed are common falts in a lot of residences, but not here. We look to eliminate issues such as noisy air conditioning units and carpet needing repair. Our engineering department is highly capable and we encourage all guest to report any issues with their rooms. They are ready to repair and help with anything at a moments notice.

The resort fee is something weinform all guest about prior to booking their reservation. It is $12/day and covers the trolley, bike rentals, fitness room, 24 hour coffee & tea station, wifi, parking, and business center. We do apologize coffee wasn't there at the time you were getting coffee one morning. They must've been reloading the urns.

The Fish House truly appreciates your business and I am sure they would relish an oppurtunity to redeem themselves. The detailed description of your meal should help identify what went wrong there.

Thanks again for everything and we hope to be your home away from home next time you visit Charleston.

Thank you for a very comfortable 2 night stay.
We went to the Fish House restaurant both nights and the service was fantastic, even though on the second night, they had to cater for two large parties. The food, wine and beer were all excellent, although, perhaps the Purple Haze beer wasn't the best (I wasn't charged for it)...maybe you should take it off the menu.
We also made a couple of visits to the bar..the local IPA is excellent. My wife enjoyed the Chardonnay.
The bed was one of the most comfortable I have stayed in and all the staff were very efficient and friendly.
We hope to return in the autumn (fall!) when we're next in the US.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor which I can recommend.

You are very welcome and thank you for choosing to stay with us. Creating memorable experiences is what we do best, so it was our pleasure. The Fish House is one of the best spots in town for seafood and just so happens to be our full service restaurant. We understand the culinary scene is a big deal downtown and we appreciate you choosing to eat on property for multiple meals. When you have decided on a return date please give us a call. We look forward to serving you on your next visit to Charleston.

We loved our room here. Beside the comfortable bed, well equipped bathroom, it had two cozy chairs facing a gas fireplace. And the lighting was good. Great use of the space. We loved the view of the Charleston Bay Bridge. There is a shuttle into Charleston, which is helpful if you don't want to drive. The shuttle driver even took us a few blocks to a closer restaurant one night. He was very helpful. In fact, all the staff we interacted with were pleasant and went out of their way to help us.
