I was leery of this place after reading the reviews but thought if it was that awful we'd go somewhere else. It ended up being a good deal for our family of six. Keep in mind, it is not a full-service hotel with daily housekeeping service and that is probably what keeps the cost down. We reserved a non-smoking two bedroom suite with two bathrooms - a must for our large family. The hotel was mainly just a place to sleep as we explored the lovely town of Charleston. We checked in around 11pm and the lady was very friendly, fast and efficient. The elevator worked fine and was clean. I did not find the filthy room conditions mentioned in earlier reviews. There was some mildew stain on the grout in one of the bathrooms but the rooms were clean and smelled fine. In fact, the kitchenette area was spotless. There were some marks on the walls as if previous occupants had banged suitcases or shoes around. These weren't really dirt, just marks on the walls. The beds were comfortable. For our suite, the only AC unit was in the living room area between the bedrooms. This meant a cold living room and warm bedrooms and bathrooms. It was a major heat wave while we were there so we had to leave the bedroom doors open to cool them adequately. Since we didn't spend much time there it wasn't a big problem. There was low water pressure the first day but after that it was fine. In one of the bathrooms there was no cold water at the sink, only warm or hot no matter which way you turned the faucet. My kids liked having their own TV; there were three of them in our suite with a good cable channel selection. There is wireless internet access in the lobby if you want to bring along your laptop. The breakfast was adequate and saved us some money. We did not use the pool or the exercise room so I can't comment on that. Checkout was fast and accurate. The location was great, just across the beautiful new bridge from downtown Charleston, very close to Patriot's Point and shopping/restaurants and only about 15 minutes to Isle of Palms Beach. Overall, I'd say if you are looking for a good deal on a place to lay your head this is for you.
