“Shem Creek Inn--nice hotel in a great location!”

We wanted to see the sights of the Charleston, SC area but not stay in town with possible crowds and noise. A place close to the city but also close to the ocean area. Shem Creek Inn was the perfect choice. Right on a creek with shrimp boats coming and going, pelicans flying about and dolphins swimming by. A nice pool overlooking the creek and a dockside openair bar. Several bars and nice restaurants so close you can smell the food. It is postcard beautiful. The hotel was clean and respectable. Extra large tub and private balcony were nice. The continental breakfast and free parking were also appreciated. When I return to the area I will stay at the same place.

My sister arranged our visit to Shem Creek Inn for my mom, me, my sister and her new hubby. They'd stayed there twice before and loved it. I have to say that I, also, fell in love from the moment I opened my balcony sliding glass door and heard the sounds are happy, partying people and saw the boats that docked and floated smoothly by on the creek. The pelicans and seagalls flying all around. I'd heard that John Grisham, the mystery writer, had written a book that took place there and that just added to cool mystic of the area. It felt like a New Orleans vibe. It's incredibly beautiful as the sun starts to go down. I didn't mind the noise at night. I loved visiting the city of Charleston, SC with it's historic beauty and wonderful shopping and restaurants. Shae, the desk manager, was very sweet to my sister and I. I thought he was very cool. The beds were comfy and the water pressure was great. It was nice to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room as well.
Shem Creek Inn is a sexy place to stay. The environment lends itself to romance. If you're single...I'm sure you could easy meet some nice people there. ;) . Also, you must check out "Cypress Gardens" if your in the area and take a flat bottom boat onto the super calm waters of the swamp full of Cypress Trees. It's magical! Bring your camera!! I recommend Shem Creek Inn to everyone!!!
Happy Traveling,
Kelly F. from Los Angeles.

I visited Charleston South Carolina for the first time on Friday, May 23, 2008. Checked into the Shem Creek Inn and absoutely loved every minute there. Once we arrived in Mt. Pleasant we had trouble finding the hotel. I called Shem Creek Inn and a young man by the name of Shae went above and beyond to make sure my guest and I arrived safely. Talking about GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I truly have not seen this type of Customer Service demonstrated in a very long time. He stayed on the telephone and gave us directions until we pulled into the parking lot of Shem Creek Inn

Shae was not satisfied until we checked in and he welcomed us with such a warm spirit. Whenever, I'm in Charleston or Mt. Pleasant S.C. the Shem Creek Inn is where I will always stay. Great Service, Beautiful Place and WONDERFUL Staff. Thanks a Million Shem Creek Inn.

This was our second visit to the Shem Creek Inn. We had a nice room with a view of the dolphins, boating activity, and pelicans. The bars were noisy, and we are early "go to bed" people, but once we closed the door we heard nothing. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed visiting Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, and Charleston - as well as Patriots Point. And it was a great location to be able to walk to dinner with many different choices. Since we're from the north, we felt like we were in Jimmy Buffet land with all the palms. We will defnitely return!

This hotel was the greatest disappointment in a 15 night road trip. The marsh view promised was instead a room facing an open air bar. When we complained of the noise, the desk clerk told us only that it would not get louder. We stayed solely because it was too cool to enjoy the balcony and with the sliding door shut and the drapes drawn and the tv on the noise was muted. However, we did not anticipate that same bar sends out an employee to scour the area with a leaf blower- at 7:30 am. We again complained and were told "we are not responsible for the bar." I would suggest that they feel no responsibility for a guest's comfort, either. We have had far better comfort for much less money at any chain motel.

It is very disheartening when we hear that our guests are not pleased with their accommodations or their stay with us. The staff and management team consistently strive to make each guest comfortable and it is obvious that the noise from the adjacent restaurant/lounge made your stay less than satisfying. I will be addressing these issues with the Management of the adjacent business in hopes that they can be more considerate with the level of noise and their early morning attempts of cleaning their area.
