“Too much salt”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

This was a second trip to Crave.
On the first trip, a Sunday brunch in May 2013, I thought the food was over salted, and that was everything, even the flavored butter, except for the fruit.
But because we had heard Crave was so good for dinner, and thinking the first time might have been a fluke, we went back last night.
Again everything was far too salty. We started with the oysters Rockefeller, a dish in which we expected salt, but salt over-powered the maple butter, my salad dressing and mac and cheese, and the pork dish ordered by my friend,
Just a suggestion here for the kitchen; use a lighter hand when salting food, and just put a shaker on the table. This is not a restaurant for anyone with hypertension.

“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

We had our anniversary dinner at Craves and our expectations were high after reading most reviews. I can only confirm that he food was wonderful and the service was great too. It is in a neat location near the Isle of Palms beach in Mt Pleasant and it has a patio too. We will be back.

“Wonderful meal in Crave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

My daughter celebrated a birthday recently. She chose to go to downtown Charleston for some shopping and a cappuccino. Despite the vast number of great restaurants in Charleston she chose to go to Crave for her birthday dinner.

Crave is just over the bridge from Charleston in the town of Mt. Pleasant. The restaurant recently came under new management but maintained the same great chef.. We were seated in a booth as requested and were impressed that GM Anthony came over to introduce himself.

My daughter had attended the Mac n cheese Festival in Charleston where Crave once again had won the award for best Mac n Cheese. It is to die for. She ordered all of her favorites; a rib eye steak, fried shrimp and a side of Mac n Cheese which could have served as a meal. I ordered the plank salmon and salad. Excellent bread, butter and bottled water was also served. Service was excellent.

Crave has a very good wine list as well as a selection of beer and special martinis.

Our meals were wonderful with both the steak and the salmon cooked to perfection. Portions were large so we asked to take home enough food for another meal. Anthony returned, concerned that something was wrong. Not at all. As it was my daughter's birthday he offered her a desert but we just didn't have enough room. We jokingly mentioned that a cappuccino with a Bailey's might be nice. Anthony said that they are considering adding cappuccino to the menu.

Another wonderful dinner. We can also recommend this restaurant for a fabulous brunch place. When the weather gets warmer there is a nice outdoor terrace with live music in the evening. The bar is also popular with professionals after work on weekdays. Something for everyone

“Top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

Our family ate here over the xmas period and were made to feel very welcome. Very child friendly and some different touches in and around the restaurant.
The portions were a manageable size and of superb quality. Many thanks

“What a shame”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

I live on The IOP just down the street from Bill Temple, good friend! We both knew Crave in the beginning and were good friends of the former owner.

Over the years my wife, friends and I have enjoyed many, many fabulous meals there but also noticed that the restaurant never really took off (4 or 5 tables occupied 7 PM Saturday night). I urged the former owner to consider more of a seafood fare (tourist come to the low country for our seafood) but to no avail and the restaurant sold about 6 months ago.

Since the new owners took over we have been back 3 or 4 times, once for brunch (dry pancakes and runny eggs Benedict), one lunch, great pricy burger and two disappointing dinners. The latest was last night when the owner brought Chef Ganstrom out to listen to my request for more low country seafood. He came out with the most arrogant attitude asking just what type seafood I would suggest. When I suggested fried shellfish he acted as if it would cheapen his menu. He did a weekend special fried seafood platter a year or two ago and it was without exception the best I have ever had. He also did a special of a butter poached seafood platter that was unbelievable. He is a very talented chef!! After his arrogant, negative comments and some of the same regarding the former owner now working at Olive Garden was more than I bargained for so we left. What a shame.
