“Beautiful afternoon visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Took a guided boat tour that was well worth the $5, can do a self guided tour for free as well. Butterfly garden was neat too. Got to see several alligators!

“Taking out the Grandsons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2014

Awesum morning at Cypress Gardens and the butterfly house. We arrived at opening and were first into the butterfly house. My 10 & 11 year old grandsons got to watch butterflys laying eggs on a vine just inches from their noses. In fact they had to put their hands over their mouth and noses to ensure their breathing did not disturb the butterflys process. They and I were enthralled for quite some time watching the process unfold right in front of our eyes. We also took the guided boat tour through the swamps and the almost drove our guide insane with all their questions. A SUPER GREAT DAY AT CYPRESS GARDENS!!!

“Visitors to Charleston don't miss this beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014 via mobile

I am ashed to say that I am a longtime resident and have only been to Cypress Gardens for a nightime event. The lilies were blooming by the hundreds. We could not see it all but loved the walk we took and the butterfly house. Go there and enjoy a cypress swamp full of beauty.

“Very Cost Effective”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

Great deal at 10 bucks a person. We walked the whole grounds there were lots of cool plants and animals to see. Then we took the row boat out and saw 5 alligators.

“Romantic and magical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2014

We absolutely loved Cypress Gardens! It was amazing and awe inspiring! Majestic cypress trees growing out of dark swamp water, beautiful lilly pods in bloom everywhere... We took the guided tour in the row boat. If we had more time, we would have also done the self guided tour. We learned all about the movies shot there, The Notebook (the scene in the row boat with the swans), The Patriot. Very, very romantic gliding through the water... Great place for an engagement or wedding. No mosquitoes, even though we were in a swamp, because of the dark tannin water and a water plant that eats the mosquito larvae. Lots of picture taking opportunities, bridges, benches, swings, gazebos... We ducked under bridges in the boat (very cool), saw a few alligators.

The butterfly house was beautiful, well worth visiting. All the buildings are worth touring. The walking paths are wonderful, well worth taking.

Important Note: the bridge right by the entrance to the gardens is out! Most GPS and online directions take you to the bridge. The bridge went out because of a train derailment in the beginning of May. The bridge construction will take approximately to October. The detour takes about 45 minutes added onto your trip!! That is huge!! This is really hurting their business. The detour is not marked with signs yet. My suggestion is to call the gardens and ask for the detour directions. I did not find the detour directions on the website helpful.

Overall, Cypress Gardens is well worth the trip even with the 45 minute detour. It is absolutely magical!
