Camping rates are low. all day John boat rental is 15.00 for fishing.
Bring your own anchor though because the lake has a strong current and you will end up at the shallow end in minutes.
Be on look out for water moccasins- they are everywhere.
Cost 2.00 for adults, 1.50 for seniors.
Been here several times for school trips and the kids have a great time.
this would be a great place for a family group cook out location- plenty of trails. they have people teaching sometimes in areas of interest. replica of a school house etc. they have guided tours available but you are more than able to just wander around by yourself.
shelters for group picnic can be reserved for $35-44 per day and can take up to 60 people- BUT if shelter is not reserved can be used at no charge!
lots to offer- boating, fishing, picnic areas, playground, learn a little history, camping, biking. can request the volley ball net set up, horse shoe area. Has a small store/gift shop.
the fishing pier is handicap accessible
Its a nice change to the busy cities of Charlotte and not a far drive! about 15 miles down south 521 from Ballantyne.
I have never camped here- as I live about 3 miles away but it is probably a great little weekend get away for those who like to camp.
