My wife and I stayed at The Sanctuary in mid-January, a very quiet time to be at the beach. We had a beautiful suite on the top floor. Because of the season and the over-all price, I chose a Garden Suite. I assumed this meant not a beach view, correct, actually it was directly over the entry, with almost no garden in sight, so be aware of your room location at this property.
Luxurious linens, two bathrooms, flat screen and regular TV's. Marble everywhere. Superior, superior. Polished. Clean.
The lobby was really well appointed. Reminded me of the Disney Yacht Club in Orlando in scope, but really better done. Everything in the public areas was in perfect condition. The informal restaraunt was actually pretty formal, but with big scale wicker seating. Had the green eggs and ham, which is an odd looking dish, but good. The formal dining room was very formal, oppulent, heavy dark wood. I am not a drinker, but what a beautiful bar! If you choose the formal dining, recognize that you are in for a VERY formal experience.
The staff was all friendly. Generally young, just getting going in this type of setting. Everyone seemed to be thrown slightly off-balance by the low occupancy, several seemed eager to talk, to do something extra, but not certain where the line between familiar and professional lay.
I would not normally mention Housekeeping in a review, but in this case I thought it was the housekeeping staff that approached perfection. The person who came to turn down our bed noticed my wife was chilly on the couch and brought her a blanket. The maid lined my shoes up in the closet. Kudos.
