“Private, peaceful getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Kiawah is a beautiful, very natural, planned community. It is a great place to play golf, ride bikes or relax on a natural beach that is never crowded. It is a perfect place to relax and get away from it all. However, if you are looking for more activity than that, it not the place for you. Most attractions, sights in Charleston, etc, are at least 20 minutes drive time away. I like to call this place the "anti-Myrtle Beach." My husband was bored because he does not like to spend the day on the beach. However, I enjoy sitting on the beach all day and there is always a lot of nature to enjoy from your house or condo. You do not see any obese, heavily tattooed people on the beach. I'm not saying everyone has model-perfect bodies but you don't see any slobs either.
Last two times I have went (I've been there 4 times), we've had some maintenance issues with our place thru Wyndham Vacation Rentals. They were very slow to get these issues taken care of. For example, the pilot light on our hot water tank kept going out. Thankfully my husband is a contractor and could take care of this but that shouldn't be his job while on vacation. Also, some of the units we have stayed in needed updating, especially in the kitchen. Some of the appliances were not in the best working order.
You will feel relaxed if you go on a Kiawah vacation. We just returned from a week's stay and it went way too fast.

“Charm in a truly southern setting . . .”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Kiawah Island is beautiful and how you will rate it as a vacation destination will depend in large part on your reason for going. It isn’t a Disney or typical “Lots to do . . . ” beach type resort. However, if you want to be off the beaten path in a beautiful southern setting . . . Kiawah is the place for you. This island is spectacularly maintained, is high-end, and not inexpensive. Kiawah is a unique vacation destination located approximately 30 minutes west of Charleston and is at the southern end of John’s Island. Some might consider it remote.

Ultimately, if you are looking for a beautiful southern vacation setting and love seafood . . . you may want to consider visiting Kiawah Island. However, do your research and read both positive and negative reviews for places you might consider staying and things to do. Kiawah can be a place for both families and couples. A great deal of how you feel about Kiawah will have to do with where you stay and how you are treated on the island.

“Its your own private Island”

We have been going for 20 years. It is built for the rich but you can rent condo's for $1,000 + a week.

“Kiawah is Charming!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

We've been coming to Kiawah for years and never get tired of its beauty. May was perfect - quiet, warm, and peaceful. The beaches are wide and there is usually a nice breeze. If you are a golfer, there are numerous courses on and off the property. And Charleston is an easy 30 min drive.

“Bicyclist paradise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Kiawah Island is beautiful .. even the drive there is nice. The road is shaded by huge oaks with Spanish moss draping off the branches. The wet lands going into the island are also breath taking.. Its obvious there is lots of wild life to check out. This is the family friendly beach since there are amenities on the beach. Prepare to pay to park.. the fee in nomimal for what you get in return. Definitely worth the drive from Charleston. Plan on spending the day! ..
