“Business Travel to Wild Dunes Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

I travel to North Charleston S C once or twice a month and am willing to stay 30 minutes further because of the amenities and comfort of Wild Dunes. they have great resturants and casual dining on the property and within close by. Golf is across the street when I want to practice. The resort is beautiful and right on the ocean. Rooms are spacious, clean and great pillows of a sound sleep, rooms are dark at night and the shower and bath room is fantastic. Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgable. If you travel or are vacationing in Charleston check on Wild Dunes first. You cannot go wrong.

Room Tip: As for the 4th floor facing the ocean wiht a balcony. Free coffee in the resturant to go.

Very attentive and helpful staff. Loved the valet attendant and the woman at the front desk was so professional and nice. Great location and a very easy drive into downtown Charleston. Free parking and valet. Our room was large, clean, and very comfortable. We had a balcony that one person could sit on and see the ocean. It was right next to the beach but also had a nice pool. There were two restaurants and a bike rental shop right there. Also, tennis courts and a playground. Awesome family trip!

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn for our anniversary week & couldn't have made a better choice! Gorgeous location on the Isle of Palms beach, beautiful landscaping, immaculate condition, wonderful facilities & courteous staff. The food at the Lettered Olive restaurant was as good as the best in Charleston (their wild mushroom streudel is heaven on a plate). Loved all the pools, especially the lap pool and the Inn's pool with a divided quiet and regular section. Perfect location for exploring the charms of Charleston and the low country. So much to do we didn't get a chance to do some of the other fun things - putting green, corn holing, billiards, tennis, etc. Only two negatives - 1. The WiFi is abysmal. 2. The towel card policy is inane & annoying. Can't wait to go back!

I am reading a lot of negative reviews around the time my wife and I spent at the Wild Dunes Resort for our anniversary. Our experience could not have been more pleasant. Staff at Check-In were very responsive and polite. The were clear in communicating the requirements for the gate and parking, so I had no problems. We were upgraded from a studio to a one bedroom suite in the Village at no extra charge. Granted the 'Lettered Olive' was clsoing for the season (We stayed end of Sept to 1st week of Oct.), but the food was fine at the Sea Island Grille and Cafe Bar and Lounge. Love the fish tacos! Staff were courteous and professional when we booked excursions. Rooms were well kept every day. We rode bikes around the island, went to Charleston and on some excursions through the resort. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Would recommend the Village one bedroom suite for couples.

Wonderful place - exceeded my expectations, especially the courteous and efficient staff. Excellent beach and pools; rooms were very comfortable - next time I would try to book cceanview; nice bicycling around the resort (saw a few small gators); golf courses in excellent shape; an enjoyable weekend; wish I could have stayed a week. It is not an inexpensive stay, but you get what you pay for.

We made 3 tee times for last FRIDAY morning with a total of 12 golfers. The price was quoted on the phone was $98.00 per player. When we arrived, the very rude gentleman in the pro shop charged us $118.00 per player and wouldn't honor the previous quote and told us "not his problem and he didn't make that promise."
Apparently Friday at 7:30am is a "weekend" rate according to this guy. The half-way house was closed all morning and the beverage cart girl showed up on hole #11 & #18 & would not accept credit cards. The course was in pretty good shape but one of the worst golfing experiences I've had in a long time. It's a shame that this staple resort of Charleston would want to make such an awful impression to 12 locals trying to go have a nice round.
PASS and hate to feel this way after years and years of good times.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent visit to Wild Dunes. Feedback both positive and negative is important as to us as we strive to ensure a positive guest experience.

I offer no excuses for the rude treatment by a staff member, lack of quoted rate being honored and poor beverage cart service you received at the Harbor Course, only my sincere apologies and to assure you that the associates involved in dealing with your group have been disciplined and appropriate re-training will occur.

It is extremely important to our team that all our guests have a pleasurable experience that exceeds expectations. We hope to have the opportunity to host your golf group again and I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you to ensure we get it absolutely right the next time. Please contact me at jminton@wilddunes.com.

Sincerely,

Jeff Minton

From the time my husband and I arrived to our departure five days latere, we experienced exceptionally friendly and helpful service. While most of our time was spent away from the Inn, we enjoyed the opportunities to rent bikes, enjoy the pool and wander the grounds. Our room was spacious, clean and well maintained. Our only disappointment was the intermitent wireless service and pillows that didn't match the quality of the inn. Wild Dunes offers a wide variety of activities that we would consider during another visit.
