We rented 914 Carolina Blvd., Isle of Palms, SC, through CyberRentals.com. The owner is Larry Strickland. The house was billed as a luxury home with incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean (barely visible) and the Intracoastal Waterway (not visible at all). It was NOT a luxury home -- almost all the appliances were broken (double oven did not work and was only replaced by a single oven on Wednesday -- we arrived Saturday; wheels were missing on the lower rack of the dishwasher, so we had to lift it in and out -- tough when it's full of dishes; the icemaker in the fridge was broken, and the fridge itself leaked; and the electric ignition on the stove was inefficient and often gas flames shot across the counter when the stove was turned on).
The house and yard were unkempt and trashy: the lawn had not been mowed for a while, and the overgrown bushes made opening the gate to the pool (also dirty) hard; the showers were moldy; the upholstered furniture in the living and dining rooms was filthy, and the springs were sprung in all the chairs and sofas; and there was a hole from wood rot in one of the porch supports. Broken lawn furniture was all over; dirty dishes were in the kitchen sink; beds had been slept in prior to our arrival; used water glasses were beside the beds; roaches were everywhere; the draft fan at the stove was moldy and caked with grime; the pots and pans were encrusted with burned on food -- in a word, this place was awful, and I would not recommend it to anyone!
