“Another wonderful HHI trip!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2009

Just got back from Hilton Head on Friday. This was our second trip and this time we stayed at the Coral Sands on an RCI exchange. We had a 3 bedroom unit in building E. The unit was very large, clean and decorated nicely. We were hoping to get a unit closer to the pool because we had a 2 year old with us and it was a bit of a haul to the pool with the little one and all the stuff. Would have been nice to be able to use the pool and check on him during his nap time.
We rented bikes from Hilton Head Bikes and they were very nice. We used them a lot for riding on the beach. We were fortunate to have a good week weather wise and took full advantage of it. We love the numerous bike trails.
One of the best parts of staying at the Coral Sands was being so close to Center Circle for shopping. The BiLo store was wonderful and I thought had pretty good prices. The bakery and deli were very fresh and the produce was nice. It was great to have the store so close to pick up things quickly. Make sure to ask them to use their visitor discount card to get the sale prices on things.
We found a great little Mexican restaurant called Amigos in that same shopping center. The food was outstanding and I would highly recommend it. Doesn' t look like much on the outside, but don't let that fool you. We also ate at our favorite, Big Bamboo, two times. We went to The Wreck of the Salty Dog for my son's birthday and all had some type of seafood. Again, the food was great. The places we ate at that were just ok were Wild Wings and NY City Pizza. Nothing special at all.
Can't beat the weather and crowds in September. Seems like one of the best times to travel to Hilton Head. We are sure to be back in a couple of years and would stay at the Coral Sands again if possible.

We just returned from a beautiful week in Hilton Head. The resort was fabulous. We had a 3 bedroom condo in building E. Check in was fast and very informative. You have to check in at the club house which has 5 computers and a printer that you can use free of charge. There is a game room for the kids and a fitness room. The pool was a minute walk from our condo. There is a little strip mall within walking distance where you can buy groceries and souvenirs. There is also a little Mexican restaurant in the strip. There is no entertainment at the resort, but our kids enjoyed going minature golfing a few times in the evening. The resort highly recommended the restaurant Aqua. It was fabulous. It was pricey but well worth it. The beach was beautiful. The water was warm and the waves were great. The only downfall were the jellyfish. It seems that the jellyfish are worst the last week in July and most of August. A few of us got stung. I highly recommend this resort.

Just returned from 2 weeks in Hilton Head at the Coral Sands resort. The resort condo we were in was beautiful and comfortable. Had everything you would expect with no complaints. The third bedroom is connected to the master suite and shares this bathroom so, no privacy and the sliding door did not lock. Only 2 bath rooms for 10 people, this had challenging moments. The pool area was okay, the pool was 3/ 1/2 feet to 4 1/2 feet no shallow and no deep. No baby pool. The beach access and parking can be a hassle here. Expect lots of walking. Paid 10 bucks a day to park at the beach at the Hilton because my Aunt couldn't handle the walking. This would be sold out if we didn't arrive early. Sharks on the beach one day so that was a little scary. Life guards called everyone in for about 30 minutes. Many dolphin sightings from the beach though. Beach water was brownish and murky, couldn't see a thing you were swimming with. Though, wave break was low and slow grade to deeper water made access even for children and my disabled aunt easy and she swam everyday. Life guards were great, rented umbrellas and chairs, but was pricey. Saw a horseshoe crab on the beach, hermit crabs, saw an alligator at the Sea Pines Preserve. Loved all the live oaks and moss, Hated that we drove the entire Island and it's been sold off. Almost completely unable to see the Ocean on this Island unless you bike, or pay to park and walk. Not gonna drive along the beach here. Loved Sea Pines and Salty Dog areas! Lots of cool shopping, food, real beach type scene. Day trip to Savannah, ice cream at Leopold's shouldn't be missed, they were out of Lavender Ice cream. The Pistachio was the best ever!!! Try the unique flavors the chocolate just tasted like chocolate per the kids. Beaufort was great also, went to a park were you could see the bridge and there were park swings! It was lovely! Lots of old homes, southern architecture and squares in Savannah all wonderful. Not things you can see anywhere else. Took the tours and loved them. Dinner at Michael Anthony's was excellent, Charlie's, and Sea Shack. Though waited in line for an hour for Sea Shack it was a pain, but food and price were great, Had Wahoo, Sea Bass, and a local fish all great! 4th of July at Boathouse II this was exceptional! Food and atmosphere were fabulous, A good time was had by all. Would highly recommend an evening here to all! Eat outside and enjoy the atmosphere and the live music. Kingfisher was pretty bad. Wouldn't recommend this place. Food and service was average or below. This was the only poor experience. All the people were nice. Shopped the Bi Lo, skip Piggly Wiggly- poor choices and high prices. Loved the Greg Russell show, so funny, Didn't love the Shannon Tanner show just to young, and to country for our crowd. Also had some carry out Chinese near our condo. that was awesome and inexpensive but, can't remember the name. Sorry Pizza lovers we ate no pizza this trip.

I was worried about being assigned Springwood units at Coral Sands because of reviews I had read. The units have been completely re-done. Our family had two 3 bedroom units, and one 2 bedroom unit. All were excellent---new furniture, carpets, newly painted, and new appliances. I've never had a timeshare with so much closet and pantry space. It was especially nice to have so many bathrooms.

We had some minor problems with an outside light bulb that was out and reversed hot and cold water in the washer. After calling, someone came immediately and made the repairs. The unit was well stocked with all the dishes and cookware our large group needed. We had read that BBQ tools were not included so we brought our own and we found that the gas grills were very clean.

We have been time-sharing for more than 20 years and this was the first time we were not bothered by someone trying to get us to a sales pitch. The Tuesday breakfast was outstanding. It included yogurt, granola, fruit, biscuits, quiche, and bread pudding, etc.
There was also no hard sell at the breakfast where door prizes were given out.

Coral Sands has a special rate for renting bikes. We also rented a roll-away which was delivered to the door. The bikes included helments and locks and were in the storage area. I know of no place that has as many wonderful bike trails as Hilton Head.

The Clubhouse was very nice and had an excellent exercise room. I have to admit that our good intentions to exercise gave way to sitting on the beach, riding bikes, and enjoying the two simming pools. Our favorite was the smaller pool with an area for children.

Another good find was The Sandbox and the Coastal Discovery Museum. The musical show under the big tree at Sea Pine is especially entertaining for children. Marley's, The Sea Shack, and The Crazy Crab were restaurants we enjoyed. Coral Sands also had some great rates for golfers. We really enjoyed being able to use our computers in the unit.

Our group of 24 included infants, kids from 1-4, teenagers, young adults, older adults, and old folks. All had a wonderful time.

My husband and I and a couple of friends enjoyed our stay at the Coral Sands Resort on Hilton Head Island for a week in April. We were given Unit B103 which consisted of a one floor, 3 bedroom unit, with two bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen. For some reason, we were assigned this "handicapped" unit which we didn't require. For those needing this type of unit, it was very well equipped for such needs, i.e. ramp, wide doorways, bars around bathtub in main bathroom. But the unit was well appointed and decorated in a tropical theme which was very lovely. The only item missing from the kitchen that we needed was a tea kettle and this was brought to us immediately upon request. There were plenty of soft fluffy white towels, linens for the kitchen as well as a supply of soaps to get you started. There was also a roll of paper towels as well as toilet tissue in the bathrooms. BBQ utensils are not supplied so if you intend on barbecuing, I would suggest bringing your own. We did not know about this. Also there are no hair dryers supplied so ladies bring your own.

There were TV’s in each of the bedrooms as well as a large TV in the livingroom with DVD player. There was also a stereo/CD/radio player in the livingroom but for some reason the CD player was not working.

Our unit was at the very end of the first row of units and we really liked this location as it was very peaceful and quiet. At night we could open our sliding doors to the back green space where a fountain was running in the small lagoon and we could listen to the frogs singing every night. It was so lovely. We walked down a small walkway leading to the pool area from our back patio. We enjoyed the hot tub a few nights and had the place all to ourselves. The first few days for some reason the pool was murky but within a couple of days, it cleared up and we were able to enjoy it for the rest of the week. The water temperature was just right too.

On the Tuesday morning, the resort offered a complimentary breakfast for all owners and their guests. It was very delicious and served buffet style at the pool area. The resort did offer activities throughout the week but we didn’t partake of these as we were too busy sightseeing and exploring the beautiful surroundings. There is a little shopping plaza within walking distance as well as shops and restaurants at the nearby Coligny Plaza. Everything is very handy to this location but yet you can’t hear traffic noise or anything because the resort is set back into the natural surroundings.

The beach is a few blocks away but we drove to the free parking area for South Forest Beach which is just down the street from the resort so this made it much more convenient. We then only had to haul our beach stuff across the street and down a pathway (under construction at the present time) to the beach. The beach is amazing and stretches as far as the eye can see. The beach is wide and flat so that you can ride your bikes on it which we really enjoyed. No alcohol allowed and strictly enforced.
We rented bicycles for the week and absolutely loved the bike trails through the beautiful natural setting of woods. The rental company had our bikes ready and waiting for us upon arrival and they picked up the bikes at the end of our stay. It was very convenient and reasonably priced. I would recommend renting bicycles to fully appreciate the beauty of this island. There are many miles of paved bike paths.

There are many wonderful restaurants on the island and the one I would suggest is The Old Oyster Factory on Broad Creek. We had delicious seafood and a wonderful view over the marshland at sunset. We sat and ate and watched the tide come in. It was great.

There is so much to see and do on this island that it is difficult to squeeze everything into one week. We will definitely be back.

All in all, we were pleasantly surprised that the unit and resort were as lovely as it was but I have to say we were very disappointed that there is no RECYCLING program for bottles and cans, etc. In this day and age, this is unacceptable. It broke our hearts to have to throw all cans and bottles into the garbage. RCI resorts have to do better where this is concerned

RCI exchange in April 2009. Very roomy three bedroom unit. Three long blocks to beach. Close to everything on island. Pool is great. Not a lot of organized activities. No problems regstering, some early timeshare pressure, easily deflected.
Everyone rents bikes on the island. Several were stolen from the complex...a couple were unlocked, some were locked. Bring your own lock for safety.
