We were treated very nicely by the waitress and met with the owner of the establishment two times. The place is small and cozy and we were seated near the kitchen and could see all the cooks preparing people's dishes. I was impressed that they could handle the time constraint, given that the restaurant was packed at 7:30PM.
For appetizers, we ordered the crabcakes, which wasn't so bad at all. I wouldn't say it was the best., but could have been better. The crab soup was somewhat thick and did not have the desired taste. I felt that there was too much cream used. and defeated the flavor of crab. We ordered the Wild Salmon with horseradish and dill sauce. If you like lox, then you will enjoy this appetizer, but I was hoping for something better, given the high ranking it received from past readers.
The main course was pretty good, but I felt the portions were just too much. There was also just too much vegetables thrown on the plate. If you enjoy large portions, then you can't go wrong with this place. The veal chops were somewhat tough to eat and I felt there was just too much to eat.
Be prepared to pay up. It was expensive. $185 for a party of five. I've had better meals in Hilton Head at other restaurants this past week for much less. Don't get me wrong, it was good food, but just too much on the plate and definitely over-priced.
