“Dump”

Adventure Inn Villas & Rentals

The Adventure Inn is a dump. I think the Myrtle Beach crowd has migrated south and overtaken it. The rooms are dilipidated and everything looks shabby except for the main entrance/ lobby. I refused to stay there after I saw the oceanfront room I had booked.

I took my 7 year old niece to the Adventure Inn for July7 4th Week. We booked this place because of the location-- right on the beach and near Coligny Circle. We had a great view from our room. We didn't expect a lot -- basically a clean place to stay while we had fun at the pool and beach.

The pool is great. Very nice access to the beach down the deck from the pool. Excellent location on South Forrest Beach Drive.

The drawbacks were that the room is old. We had to call maintenance to fix the fridge because it wouldn't stay shut. The toilets were old and not always in great working condition. The volume on the tv didnt always work (not generally what a 7 year old wants to hear!) I had been asked about the age of the child I was bringing because of the spiral staircase up to the loft-- to make sure she didn't have problems with falling down the stairs. No one thought to mention that no adult of average size could fit up there when the 7 year old kept bumping her head.

Thank goodness there was a bed (in the kitchen area it felt like) and a pull out sofa so my niece and I slept downstairs overlooking the ocean. On a scale of 1-10 I would probably give it a 7 for locale and access.

We were told that the entire two story building is coming down in the next couple of months and a five story building with elevators (ohh thank goodness because it got old schlepping stuff up and down the steps) that would be set up condo style was going to replace it.

Overall we were ok with the room-- as I said in an email home-- it aint the Ritz but we weren't expecting that-- our expectation was clean and bug free and we had that! We liked the idea of a kitchen but had been told it had an oven-- it had a fridge a two burner range top and a microwave-- good enough I guess since I am not a big cook fan anyway. And pizza microwaves well!

The lobby staff was great and provided us with a great deal of info in planning excursions while on the Island.

I have been going to Hilton Head since 1976. Adventures Inn is not the fanciest place on the Island but the price is right and the location is perfect. Nothing is better then the large Oak by the Pool
with great shade. Yes, it is not the Ritz or Palmento Dunes, or Sea Pines but it is a great place to stay. I have been there every year since 1977 with my family and then my own children. This is a great spot for family and young children. Great grassy area to throw a football and you are right on the beach..

“Adventure Inn, Many different Bldgs”

Adventure Inn Villas & Rentals

The Adventure Inn is a management company that books for several of the condos in the South Forest Beach area.
If you want to stay there book a one or two bedroom unit in the Ocean Dunes Bldg. The main bldg is directly on the ocean and the second is ocean view facing the pool. The ocean view bldgs are four story in hieght. We have been there the last two years. The Ocean Dunes units are either owned by a single owner or as part of a time share. Last year we stayed in a timeshare unit. It was at the far end of the complex (away from the pool) and the quality of the room was average. This year we stayed at a first floor unit pool side/ocean view. This unit was owned by a couple from KY. It was recently renovated and very nice. Our friends stayed at 2nd floor unit which was also recently renovated with all stainless steel appliances. The front and north side 2 story units are schedule to be razed this fall 2006. Do not stay there.
ASK about your room before you book. CALL the Adventure Inn. My second visit was much better than my first. We/my family stay very busy fishing, golfing, biking etc during our visits. I have other friends that spend a great deal of time in thier rooms. Thier units are basic small condo's. One bedrooms ocean front about $1000. Ocean view under $1000. Good rooms for the price but ASK who owns your unit and when it was last renovated. The units are about 25 years old. Only rent Ocean Dunes rooms. And the pool will be rebult during the fall/winter of 2006-2007. Currently the pool is small. Direct access to the ocean though. Great location (South Forest Beach) Ocean Front and good price for the right room. But smaller than newer condo units. If your going to be in your room alot might look elswhere.

“Adventure Inn is a crap shoot”

Adventure Inn Villas & Rentals

Just returned from a week at Ocean Club condos which I booked thru Adventure Inn.
I didnt know that A Inn booked about a dozen buildings. Every unit seems to be privately owned so there is not a minimum level of upkeep. We paid $1400 for a week. 2 bedr, 2 bath. I was told it had a side ocean view, but that was a complete lie. WE also didnt know it would have 2 levels. A couple directly across with an identical unit paid $800 direct to owner but said it was musty from the dirty carpet. Our unit had a new lower level ceramic tile floor so no problem there. 3 things broke while there, but maintenance repaired them in 24 hours.
The distance to the beach and the lack of crowds almost made up for the lack of promised view.
