After several nights in a row of fine dining, we wanted to eat at a casual restaurant on Hilton Head Island. We read the reviews on Trip Advisor but a brewing company sounded good to us.
First of all, our service was good. Service as prompt, and attentive. One exception is my burger, which arrived a full 15 minutes after everyone else's dinner. We think the server forgot to put it in with the rest of the order and then realized it when all of our other food arrived.
The food was average. The chicken wings which many people rave about, were just average. Fried green beans were a good appetizer choice. Once my burger arrived, it was good. By contrast, my french fries were terrible. My wife's shrimp was good, but again, not great. One son had chicken fingers which looked over cooked. He only ate two of them. Our other son ordered a pizza, which he said was average and it was greasy. My in-laws were with us and they described their food as just ok. You need to go into this restaurant knowing that it's bar food.
I ordered the Octoberfest beer. Like the rest of the meal, it was just ok. It was flat and rather tasteless for a beer described as having lots of hop flavor.
We were at this restaurant on a Friday night. It was fairly empty upon arrival. As one reviewer has already noted, there is an odd smell inside. We tried it. We think it is ok. The food and the brewed beer are just ok. Service was good. There are many great places to eat on Hilton Head. The Hilton Head Brewing Company is not one of them.
