“Best restaurant on the island by far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

We love the Sage Room and have been going for many years. Only wish we had learned about it sooner. The coco mahi is fabulous, but we've never had anything we didn't love. The snow pea appetizer - yum! I could eat three of these and go home happy. We visit this place a lot (maybe 10-12 times a year and send friends/family) and are not locals....would be nice if the owner were a little more personable/appreciative of his patrons. Still, we go every time we visit HHI and are never disappointed. The food is SO GOOD. Want to try the new hotdog place in Savannah!

“Best of the Best !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

This has been our favorite restaurant on the island for years. Food is exceptional, service is great, and the ambiance is perfect. I would call this restaurant low-key, high-end. Wine selection is very good. The chefs are exciting to watch . . . get up close by sitting at the Chef's Table (counter). A five-star rating is insufficient . . . truly rates ten stars !!!

“Worth the trouble to find it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

Hidden away near a teen juice bar and non-descript shopping center, this was recommended highly by locals and lived up to its reputation. Knowedgeable and helpful wait staff, several interesting specials to complement the regular menu, and outstanding food. Don't be put off by the 'bar and grill' look. This is fine dining - in a somewhat more casual setting.

“Watch what you eat at the Sage Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

This is a superb spot on the south end of Hilton Head Island. It's tucked away in a relatively difficult location for tourists. So when you find the dining room still full at 830p on a random Wednesday in off-season, you know you're on to something. (Especially in this 530p dinner crowd kind of a town.) The place to sit is at the "chef's table," a 10 seat bar that looks directly into the kitchen. It's the only kitchen in the place, so you truly watch everyone's food. The service is simply delightful, Marquis is a pro and had real menu knowledge and real opinions--such a refreshing combo. The 4 chefs are happy to discuss any menu item with you and will go out of their way to make sure you get what you want. The offered to pair two menu items for me, no extra charges. The food is sublime with tasty and thoughtful recipes and pairings. The Ivory Salmon special is a rare find and a real winner. Baked parmesan crusted crab cakes stand out as an appetizer not to be missed. This is the place the locals sneak away to, and for excellent reason.

“Disappointed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

We had heard some good things about the Sage Room but our visit was disappointing. The Coco Mahi was very good but the Ribeye and Filet were sub-standard. The waitstaff was very good but the location left much to be desired. Prices were high for the food quality and atmosphere.
