“Fun but very touristy spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Salty Dog is more about the experience (and the t-shirt!) than the food, but we had a nice lunch here. It did not feel like it had changed much (if at all) from the last time I had been here 6 years ago. We sat out on the deck, by the bar, and had a pretty view of the marina area. Our food was fine-- pretty standard, the hush puppies were just okay, the fish sandwich was tasty. Our server was great and very friendly. Be prepared to wait for a table in busy times, but there is a ton of seating between restaurant and large deck, bar, etc.

“Destination restaurant”

I visit The Salty Dog Cafe whenever I am at Hilton Head Island...fun place to be. The food is very good. The outside bar is a great place to spend time looking out to the low country.

“great service, average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

We ate here last night. It is on the water and has nice views. The server we had did a great job. As far as the food goes, it was so/so. I wasn't impressed. Seemed a little expensive for what we got. I got a dinner salad for $7 and then had to pay for cheese .75 cents. what? Really? Hush puppies were greasy and didn't really have much flavor. My husband liked his fried shrimp and my son liked his hamburger that was $11. I wouldn't eat here again. We did have drinks outside at the bar last summer and enjoyed that. We got t-shirts in the shop also. The Salty Dog is about a block from the beach. It is very casual. Located in Sea Pines which charges visitors $5 per car to visit.

“Didn't live up to the hype...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

My first dinner dining experience on Hilton Head. We were debating between here and the Crazy Crab but Salty Dog had been a rec from a coworker. For the price the food was just average. Happy hour on the deck was fun and a good value but the margaritas on the rocks just a little too sugary. Better places out there we found out. Probably wouldn't go back.

“Great place for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We drove out to the Salty Dog Cafe for lunch (you have to pay to enter the park it is in) and had a great lunch. The service was a little slow but it was her first day. The food was great. We had Mahi Mahi bites and they were outstanding. Followed up with a crab cake sandwich on a pretzel roll. Would go back in a heartbeat!
