Perched on the banks of the Intra-coastal Waterway, it showcases unrivaled nightly sunsets and a rich history. So named for the adjacent Civil War shore battery, Fort Mitchel, the restaurant’s foyer is decorated with historic photos depicting the “War of Northern Aggression". Previously featured on The Food Network and in other notable publications, the Old Fort Pub has become a tradition for over 35 years. Guests enjoy Chef Keith Josefiak’s “New Southern” favorites inspired with influences from around the globe. An excellent choice for a celebrating a birthday, holiday or a romantic evening.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2008

we were seated upstairs where there was only one server and he was fabulous. the food was great and even tho i couldn't finish my entre because i'm a small eater, the server insisted on comping the meal!! it IS expensive but if you know that going into it then you allow for it. i'd go there again without a doubt.

“Lack of Professionalism”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2008

Went to the Old Fort Pub for dinner last night with two other couples. While the food was good (especially the She Crab Soup) there were a few server problems. They mix up the appetizers while serving them and what I think is a most serious serving blunder on their part - presenting and then taking back the complimentary starters from the Chef when the waiter realized that he had already presented them. We didn't ask for the additional starters and I think that it show real lack of service to place them on the table and then reach back and take them back. It was there mistake and I think that it should have been comped rather than make an issue of it.

We will still go back to the restaurant but I think that their wait staff should be more professional. Would have given a much rating if this had not happened.

“Great Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2008

We made a reservation here for our "adults night out." It has great views and a very relaxing atmosphere. Just know that when driving here that you have to go through a guarded gate to get to the place. We were not told this so we kept turning around thinking we had passed the Pub. It was raining really hard so it made it difficult to see.
Anyway, everything that we ordered was wonderful.
Everyone at our table loved their appetizers. From She Crab Soup to Asparagus soup, salads very fresh and unique.
My husband and I split our main dish. They did charge extra for this; however, we found it to be worth it. They split it in the back and added extra veggies and a side. The martinis were the best I have ever had.
We passed on desserts because we were so full. Even with us splitting a meal, it was more than enough food.
Our waiter was wonderful and we truly enjoyed the evening.

“Cuisine and service to match the view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2008

Our dining experience at Old Fort Pub was perfect! It had been years since we've been back and it is as good as I remember it was last time. We had an earlier reservation, 6:30pm, and had requested a table with a view. We were seated at the window with a panoramic view of Skull Creek, the marinas, live oaks seemingly jutting out of the river banks towards the water, and of course a brilliant sunset. So starting out, it's hard to beat the view. (There is also outdoor seating on the deck available.)

We all had either a starter of Caesar salad, she-crab soup, or potato-leek soup (a special last night), all full flavored and very enjoyable. The she crab soup stood out - very rich and a touch of spiceyness to it. Entrees included Salmon with a cucumber dill salad and scallion vinaigrette (which made the dish), Crispy Trout (in skin) wtih baby artichokes, mushrooms, and a sherry-dill butter sauce, lamb and goat cheese ravioli with spring vegetables and a tomato broth (this was an earthy dish with the vegetables mixed in with the ravioli in a large bowl - not exactly what was expected but still delicious), and I had mahi mahi with a spicy achiote rub served on grits with a mango salsa. Desserts were properly portioned and they had a big variety of ice creams and sorbets, so finicky kids would have a choice as well.

We finished our evening there by walking the grounds of what used to be a civil war fort, watching the sun set across the water and taking some great photos. The prices were what you would expect on Hilton Head for one of the top restaurants - roughly $50 a person for starter/entree/dessert not including wine and tip. To me though, especially for a special event, the food, service and view are worth every penny.

“What's the hype?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2008

Let's Start by saying that this restaurant has a beautiful view. HOWEVER, that's no excuse for bumping up prices on both the menu and wine list to $$$ more than other local restaurants for a lesser product. My husband and I started with a BBQ pork empanada, which would have been OK if they hadn't smothered it in ranch dressing (thought this was fine dining). $8.95 for a small cup of the soup du jour...Shrimp Bisque, no garnish, tasted OK. For Entrees, I had the steak special that was too tough to finish, and was topped with jarred cocktail onions instead of true pearl onions. My husband tried the Filet Mignon, which was topped with a demiglace that was obviously a purchased sauce. The steak was overcooked as well. Our server was lovely, but that doesn't make up for the owner's attention to quantity, NOT quality (Dinner for 2...$206+tip)
