Description: Old Fort Pub is a charming restaurant with one of the best views on Hilton Head Island. Perched on the banks of the Intra-coastal Waterway, it showcases unrivaled nightly sunsets and a rich history. So named for the adjacent Civil War shore battery, Fort Mitchel, the restaurant’s foyer is decorated with historic photos depicting the “War of Northern Aggression". Previously featured on The Food Network and in other notable publications, the Old Fort Pub has become a tradition for over 35 years. Guests enjoy Chef Keith Josefiak’s “New Southern” favorites inspired with influences from around the globe. An excellent choice for a celebrating a birthday, holiday or a romantic evening.

“You Pay for the view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

This place has always been a tad pretentious, but some people like it that way. We always liked the servers and loved the view, especially from the deck when the weather permits. It's quiet, too. Goes well with wine.

“Old South History with charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We went to the restaurant for brunch, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was romantic. We toured the grounds for more history and were very pleased.

“Outstanding View and Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

My wife and I found this little gem while vacationing this January. The food was superb and the sunset view was breathtaking. The price was very resonable and I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Hilton Head. This is place is a must see on you list.

“Beautiful sunset, fantastic food, outstanding service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Thanks to recommendations from our concierge, Fodors, and other review sites, we made this our "special" last night out during our week in Hilton Head. First of all, the entranceway was magical! It was just a few steps from the parking lot, but it was really so welcoming and comfortable- that's the best way I can think of to describe it. We were seated on the second floor, which was just as lovely as the first floor, but smaller and more cozy. A spiral staircase took you from the second floor to a widow's peak where we watched the sunset before we even looked at the menu. I highly recommend you go just before sunset!!!

Our server, Daniel, was delightful- knowledgable- friendly- and there when we needed him. We were lucky to happen upon restaurant week, so for $27 we had a feast (appetizer, entree, and dessert)! The food was absolutely delicious- portions were just right- and absolutely worth the money. We had the quail and petite filet mignon... taste, creativity, and presentation were up to par with our New York bias. I can't wait to come back to the area, whenever it is, Old Fort Pub will absolutely be on the agenda!

One thing we wish we'd done better was that when we called to make the reservation we were told the dress was casual- most folks there were at the very least dressed business casual- wish we'd known that, we would've dressed up a bit more.

Ps. I would highly recommend this place, in particular, for a special occasion or if you're looking for a romantic atmosphere.

Oh... the flourless chocolate cake with the peanut brittle was a must for dessert!!!

“Relaxing and unpretentious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013 via mobile

While it may be fine dining, I found it to be relaxing and unpretentious, a wonderful surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the staff were exceptional, and the food very good.

Our entire party enjoyed the three course special, which we all commented on having been an excellent value (I know value and fine dining are usually mutually exclusive, which is why I mention this). Standouts among our selections were the crispy pheasant appetizer, flat iron steak dinner, and the pecan pie which was the best we've ever had, and enormous to boot! The she crab chowder was not to my liking (a personal aversion to a particular herb) but it was rapidly, and happily, replaced with another selection which I enjoyed.

Excellent, friendly service without being invasive. Very good food all-around, and healthy portions (we found it to be not too much or too little).
