“Great place to stay; extraordinary customer relations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

We had a suite overlooking the pool and golf course, which was great. The room is ample in size; very comfortable. Beds are extremely comfortable. The bathroom is huge, and has a great shower as well as a large bathtub. The staff are phenomenal, and this makes the whole experience extremely special. As a guest, you really feel that they have your best interests at heart, and want to do everything they can to make the experience truly enjoyable. It was a great location for us, because we love to walk, and we were able to take great early morning walks each day. While some of Sea Pines Resort is looking a little bit tired, Inn at Harbour Town is a gem.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the golf course side. Otherwise, you may be overlooking the parking lot.

This is a clever idea. Take an established hotel in a good location. It's a slightly tired resort and you plan to, and indeed are, spending significant sums to update the facilities in the resort. But how do you keep the customers satisfied during the transition process? You focus on staff quality - but here is the clever bit. You don't spend money on experience but you bring in a number of young, keen, extremely pleasant 'interns' who do the majority of the customer facing service and have the added appeal of an English accent. You then train them long and hard. During this process you might run the risk of removing the personality from these Butlers, as they are called, but the training and selection at this establishment has been carried out to perfection.

In short, they are brilliant. They are efficient, helpful, pleasant, and fresh and the gamble pays off. I suspect that they are not being paid a fortune, and that makes me feel slightly guilty as they are my fondest memory of a memorable holiday.

The hotel is going through transition. The phones are from the seventies but all calls inside the US are free. The air con is noisy but it works. Catering services are limited but a full choice is available nearby in the resort. Your resort card gives you a 10% discount in other resort facilities and we were given a $50 dollar gift card on top. The bikes (everybody should use the bikes) are free. You feel that you are a valued guest and not being ripped off.

The ultimate question: would I go back? Yes. If only to be pampered by the Butlers again.

There are many luxurious resorts along the SE coast of the US - on the barriers islands of North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. I've stayed at many of them including The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, The Cloister at Sea Island, The Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island, and properties on Jekyll and St Simons Islands. On my first visit to Sea Pines I found it as good as any such resort and better value than most. The Inn has a peaceful ambience and overlooks the Harbour Town championship golf course; rooms were large and well equipped - the bathroom in particular. Service was excellent and prices were what one would expect for this level of luxury. The Heritage Championship had recently ended and the course was in fantastic condition - it's one of the best. We also played the Ocean Course, which at half the price was a good value contrast. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby and the delightful marina at Harbour Town just a few minutes' walk away.

Room Tip: Through April 2015 there's some construction activity on the golf club house, causing some noise...

My family stayed for a week in the Inn. Highlights were the great staff, quite a few English boys n girls and some cool Islanders to look after us. Particular mnention to Matthew for his attentive but unobtrusive service. great location, lovely room. Breakfast room was a bit small so we had breakfast at the golf club a short walk away. Everything a bit pricey but for a week of quality its worth it. W ewill return.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the golf course

just got home from 4 days away at the Inn at Harbour Town, Hilton Head island, south Carolina. I have to say the staff at the Inn made my trip, they are the best, so helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is a lovely cosy hotel very much like the top boutique hotels in England which is hard to find in the USA. Golf courses are amazing and so much to do. we had a cycle along the beach watching dolphins swim of the shore, it was brilliant.
The welcome desk people were great at our check in especially Emily and Victoria, they made everything run very smoothly. I would highly recommend this resort, so much to do and see. unfortunately I didn't get to see an alligator but hope to next time.

Room Tip: a room with views overlooking the golf course.

My wife and I planned trip to Charleston for her spring break. We included a couple of night stay at the Inn so I could get in some golf too. Played Heron Pt. and the Ocean course at Sea Pines. Fantastic golf. The staff at the Inn was fantastic they were interns but you would have thought they worked for years in the industry. The two we dealt with were Emma, a wonderful English young lady and Stephanie, not sure where she was from. Also the manager of the staff whom I didn't get her name. They were so hospitable when we had a flat tire on our rental they were able to come and pick us up and bring us back to the Inn. They took me to the courses each morning. My tee times were early but they made special accommodations for me. The room was fantastic too. Everything exceeded our expectations.

We have just returned from our fourth trip to Hilton Head & our second time at this hotel. Our room was lovely overlooking the golf course & the new swimming pool with very comfortable beds & large bathroom. The staff are mostly English who are still at university & are all charming and very helpful. I feel guilty not giving 5 stars but the breakfasts & breakfast room let them down - it is a small room and the breakfasts take a long time to arrive & when they do l am afraid that the omelette we had was overcooked & rather rubbery & the plate of fruit although good could have fed two people so l would rather have paid less & had a smaller portion. Despite this the golf, tennis & cycling are wonderful. Harbour Town is fun and easy to walk to from the hotel and Sea Pines is a great resort.
