We stayed at Villamare 7/5-12. We booked through VRBO, not ResortQuest. Our first floor unit in Bldg 3 was perfect. We had a view of the lagoon/pool/and ocean. Our particular unit was very up-to-date, and everything functioned perfectly. The owners of this particular unit had it very well stocked. Flat panel TV, DVD recorder, and even blank DVDs if you wanted to burn a DVD from your movie camera while there. Stereo system, board games, and a great scrapbook of area restaurants with menus and recommendations.

Palmetto Dunes security was visible on the property. The maintenance/landscape crews worked daily to keep the grounds and facilities in tip-top shape. A board on the boardwalk broke, it was fixed within a few hours. Covered parking and keyless entry were huge bonuses.

We traveled with our 11 and 8 yr old sons. They loved the place. We were within walking distance to Alexander's, the general store, the Marriott, and the Hilton. We rented bikes from Palmetto Dunes outfitters. My husband loved the golf courses in Palmetto Dunes.

We will definitely return to Villamare.

“Great vacation, Make sure you know who your renting from.”

Villamare has so much to offer. Great location with great pool and things to do. This complex is conveniently located next to the Marriott which offers great drinks and has entertainment. We rented from someone that professed that the condo was newly remodeled but when we got inside it was truly disappointing. The range of things we saw were the front door didnt lock, the shower door almost came off and a large rusted hole in the dryer that would spit out rusty chunks as you try to use it. The furniture and carpeting hadnt been updated in sometime. We had friends that also came with and their condos were beautiful.
Make sure you know what you are renting. I did not go through resortquest but directly through VRBO listings. Hilton is a great place but we went over the 4th which is the most crowded time of the year so you need to be patient when going out to eat because in some cases you can wait 2.5 hours.

“Great view!”

ResortQuest Villamare Villas at Palmetto Dunes Resort

Mar 19, 2008

We stayed here for March Break on the third floor of Building 1. We had a fantastic view of the rising sun over the ocean. The unit was massive for the two of us, plus our 10 month old. Our son sure enjoyed the crawling space. The unit was very well equipped. The kitchen was great, any utensil you could think of was there! The location of the complex is excellent. Just inside the south gate of Palmetto Dunes. The beach is fantastic, silky soft sand. It was too cool for us to swim in the ocean or the outdoor pool, so the indoor pool at this complex was a huge bonus. The complex (and the whole island) was quite quiet. We're told their busy season is the summer months. If you're not looking for a hot winter getaway, Hilton Head would be ideal. The temperature was around 20 C, and sunny every day we were there, but one and it was partly cloudy.

The grounds of Villamare are very well kept. The two ponds in the centre of the complex are a nice touch. We saw a few turtles in there, as well as some Koi (no alligators!).

We enjoyed a 2 week stay at Villamare unit 13** that was a true delight. We stayed in a 1500 sq. ft. villa that was gorgreous, with every single amenity we needed. Our 2 sons made friends at pool-side and had a blast. Direct 3rd floor ocean view from all three windows, pool 20 yards from elevators, beach just beyond the pool. We didn't want to leave. Great bike paths, restaraunts, fantastic landscaped grounds, as Arnold says: We'll be back. Oh yeah, a great value too!

“Needs maintenance but ok”

ResortQuest Villamare Villas at Palmetto Dunes Resort

The unit itself was nice enough and clean enough. No bugs in the unit. However, the comforter was stained on our son's bed, the sliding shower door came off while I was in the shower, the plank on the walkway to the beach was broken for a solid 24+ hours and one of the ladders to get out of the pool was broken for our entire one week stay. The pool was nice but not large enough. The beach was nice and the area was nice. I had my two kids (ages 3 and 5) and didn't feel like it was an unsafe area. However, my 5 year old tripped headfirst and fell down on the steps leading to the beach due to a broken plank. The landscaping was nice. In general, it's a place that has a lot of potential if they would just keep up with the maintenance. Security guards patrolled the area as well.
