“Great two-bedroom close to everything!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

Close to everything, great view, well equipped kitchen. Great walking trail to shops, beach, and Disney's Resort. Convenient to everything we wanted to do. Loved the fireplace. Two-bedroom villa spacious and well decorated.

We had never visited Hilton Head had always wanted to visit Charleston and thought it would be close enough to this resort for a day trip during our stay. We were there May 11-18 which is considered off season but there weren't too many empty condo, the concierge stated that occupancy was close to 90%. We had heard that the resort had just undergone a renovation, with new paint, granite counter tops, new carpets, new furniture & bedding. Weather was a little cool when we arrived but warmed up by the last days we were there. The resort is small, having a rather small lobby and only two pools, a hot tub, no restaurants and a small work-out area.
We were surprised how many people were biking on the Island so we rented bikes for the week at the Marriott for $27 each for the week (probably could have rented for less at Bicycle Billy's or Hilton Head Bicycles but neither returned calls and it was worth the money for the convenience of renting at the resort). There are dedicated bike paths everywhere on the island and 13-miles of hard sand beach that are easily navigated.
The Resort offers a free van service called the Palmetto Dunes Buggy which offered transportation to beaches, shops, golf courses and restaurants in Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove. http://www.palmettodunes.com/blog/2012-03-29/hop-a-ride-on-the-dunes-buggy-for-travel-throughout-the-resort
The Shelter Cove Harbor is short a walk from the resort with shops and various restaurants, a Kayak, Stand Up Paddle board & bicycle rental from Hilton Head Outdoors. Truthfully most of the restaurants looked overpriced (most didn't have very good reviews) but you're paying for ambiance eating near the docks.
We found a great Italian restaurant near the entrance to the resort Called Pazzo's that was also offering a Restaurant.com discount coupon which saved us $25 off the bill.
Did we visit Charleston? Yes but we also visited Savannah (one hour away) for a day trip and found Savannah to me a much more enjoyable city than Charleston (2+ hours away).

I thought this was a lovely resort, smaller than other Marriotts, but ideally located with lovely views of Broad Creek. Our condo had been renovated and was very comfortable. On arrival, there was a bottle of wine to commemorate my birthday days earlier, and that was simply a very nice and classy touch that was greatly appreciated. The staff was friendly and always helpful. Thumbs up! We would definitely return and recommend this resort without hesitation.

We had a great time, despite so-so weather. We were able to enjoy the pool which was heated.
We rented bikes at the resort and took a 12 mile journey, stopping for lunch at Up The Creek Pub. The clay tennis courts are nice. The tennis Pro Phil, really knows how to put on a great clinic for all skill levels!

We have been to a lot of Marriott's and really enjoyed this one. We have 4 kids and they had plenty to do with the convenient pools, bike rental and tennis courts just steps away. The rooms were just renovated and nice, spacious and clean. We normally only like oceanviews but this was beautiful looking into Shelter Cove. We would definitely come back here.

I have stayed at several Marriott properties over the years and all of them have been Excellent stays from arrival to departure and Harbor Point has lived up to all of my expectations. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: I recommend a 1st floor room facing the cove.

I'm very impressed with this resort. I stayed in the Sunset Building, and this place was very clean, new appliances, brand new furniture. This is 5 star quality...not sure why people are downgrading this resort unless they are staying in another building. My timeshare stay was with the Sunset Pointe resort. I would come back in a heart beat.

I will have new pics posted shortly. You will be impressed as much as I was on my entrance into the villa.

Check in my easy, received parking pass for car. Handicapped accessible....elevators and stairs. My 2 bedroom villa sleeps 6: a king size bed, two twin beds, and a queen size pullout couch. Full size kitchen with stove/oven, dishwasher, full fridge, dishes, dining room, mini washer and dryer.

Walmart is up the street if you forgot anything or need to buy more laundry detergent for washing.

There are bike rentals available on the hotel property, but I think prices are cheaper elsewhere on the island. You end up paying for convenience which I don't blame. They do not allow you to bring the bikes to your room or left outside so bring a bike lock. Not sure if they offer a block lock but it wouldn't hurt to call.

Housekeeping is available if requested for a small fee. During my stay I didn't find the need to ask for housekeeping. There were enough towels for us to change out once during our weekly stay.

GPS location is correct. When you first arrive in Hilton Head, follow the 278 business route. You will start to see signs for Palmetto Dunes. Tip: If you pass the Hilton Head Diner on your right, you went too far. Your turn was immediately before the Diner.

Harbour Pointe and Sunset Pointe are located in the same area. Look for the registration sign for both resorts.

My party consisted of adults so I cannot review on the activities for kids.

You are 1 hour from Savannah and 2 hours from Charleston. Definitely try to see both cities even if it is only one day each.

Wifi is available at no fee.

No complaints...very quiet. I was on the top floor and in the corner villa. Barely heard my neighbors.

Beds were very comfortable making it feel like home away from home.

Room Tip: Ask for Sunset building and top floor villa.
