“Flat out Lied to”

We were told 3 times on the phone that there were elevators at the Breakers by Resort Rentals of Hilton Head Island! The website, www.hhivacations.com did not say anything about elevators at the time. Since our visit, they now do. I asked because my wife had just had a cast removed from her leg and I have to have surgery on my knees and we were booking a condo/villa on the top floor. We were ASSURED there were elevators at Breakers. Breakers have 4 levels of stairs. (1st floor is on the second level) and NO ELEVATORS. Notice the website, www.hhivacations.com, does not allow you to enter a review on their website. In talking to the owner about this I was assured (again) that they owned the website and would NEVER allow ANYONE to enter a review on their website EVER! I find that combined with being flat out lied to amazing. In addition to that, the property is in need of update badly. The pool and beach area is maintained pretty good, but the units are in bad need of update by the owners of the units. The property itself needs a major uplift. All in all, outside of schedule adjustments due to having to climb stairs day in and day out when you have a hard time doing it, it was OK, however, I don't know about you, but I don't like to be told something on the phone about a property that is hundreds of miles away and get there and find out that I have been flat out lied to!!!

As the Broker-in-Charge of Resort Rentals of Hilton Head Island I would like the chance to respond to the review recently posted regarding one of our properties in The Breakers. We are a property management company that represents over 275 properties for their owners all over the Island.

Our website at was designed specifically to include as much information as possible about all of our properties. In this world of technology, where everyone goes from website to website to make a decision about a vacation rental we feel it only prudent to be as detailed as possible. The descriptions for all of our Breaker units have always stated that there are no elevators for this complex and only one car is allowed per unit.

As a local business that has been here since the Breakers were constructed, we have to provide the most accurate and up to date information or we wouldn’t still be in business. We are here to answer our guest’s questions Monday thru Saturday 9 to 5 and always have someone on call after hours. When a guest has a problem during their stay we would hope that they would call as soon as possible so we can resolve the issue during their stay not at check-out when we really can’t help them (as in the case of this guest).

Please feel free to contact me, Mark Westbrook at 843.686.6008 or via email mwestbrook@hhivacations.com at any time to discuss our policies or to reserve one of our properties.

We Stayed at the Breakers last summer and are returning to the same unit this year. Its a small but clean and we go to the beach to go to the beach not stay in our room. It has great Ocean Views. I stay here with my Parents and borhters so it is a tight squeeze but we still love it there. We also like how close it is to the shops and reasturants I would recomend this to anyone. Esspecially couples. Or families with small children or families who dont mind getting cozy.

“Enjoyed the Stay; Economical, Not Luxurious”

This is by no means a luxurious place to stay, but it is economical and convenient. The location was right across the street from restaurants and shopping (Coligny Plaza), and the beach was easy to access. I would stay here again. I liked the washing machine in the room and beach view, but I did not like the bed. It felt like it was way too low to the ground.

Hilton Head is a really pretty place to vacation, and the trees and greenery are lush and majestic (see my photo).

“Good Value, good location”

The Breakers

Good value for the money. Stayed in second floor unit. Booked thru owner. Unit was clean and in good repair. Easy proximity to Coligney Plaza which has lots of dining and shopping. Since it was only myself and my husband, unit was big enough. With kids, I think it would be tight. Beach very nice and clean. Pool was small. Always able to find a chair! At times could not get into pool because it was so crowded. Have stayed next door at Sea Crest. Units are much nicer, and roomier there. But the units there cost alot more.I would recommend Breakers for couples or those with small children who are looking for a good value.

“Everything brand new at Breakers #325”

Just returned from 4 days at Hilton Head staying in Breakers #325 and recommend this unit highly. As far as I can tell, each unit in this complex is owned independently so there is great variety in furnishings, etc. We booked #325 through Vacation Rental By Owners website and the owners were great about answering e-mails and supplying information. This condo is completely redone and I don't mean just new carpeting. We're talking cabinets, faucets, flooring, counters, funrniture, beds, linens; the whole 9 yards. The kitchen is well stocked. We did all of our breakfasts and lunches there. Didn't really cook, but you certainly could if so inclined. The one bedroom has a queen size bed with built-in cabinets on each side of the headboad for lots of storage. There are 2 built-in bunks in the hallway that one of the adults in our group used because we didn't want to have to pull out the sleeper sofa. This unit does not have a separate table, just a breakfast bar with 3 swival chairs. If you want to seat 4 for a meal this will not work for you, but otherwise it is great. Without a table there is room for both a couch and a love seat in the living area which we found a real plus. The balcony overlooks the pool and the ocean. We were a bit concerned about noise, but even though there were quite a few people we were never bothered. Mostly the familys have smaller - middle school or younger children. I would think the condos a bit small to have teenagers along. Just a bit too much togetherness. The location is central and very convenient and easy to find. The owners sent us detailed directions. We walked to the Piggly Wiggly and 2 restaurants and didn't move our car for 2 of the 4 days we were there. The third floor does mean really 4 flights of stairs as the first floor is raised, but it didn't seem too bad. I think it was worth not having anyone above you and better ocean views. This owner will rent for less than a week (minumum 4 days) and is flexible about the day of arrival which it seems many properties are not. This was perfect for us as we were there for a long weekend. My friends and I are already trying to figure out if we can make this trip an annual event. A great place to vacation.
