“Wow! Pleasantly surprised.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

This Inn was the cleanest place I have ever stayed. The staff is super nice and helpful. We stayed over July 4th weekend in room 205. The size of the room was nice for our family and I liked that it had a large refrigerator, microwave and toaster. They cleaned the room daily. There was a TV in the living room. The walk to the beach wasn't bad. We ended up going to the sound side beach most of the time. It was about a 5 minute walk to the sound and I would say almost 10 minutes to the Atlantic beach. At the sound side we saw dolphins, stingrays, horseshoe crabs, and a few jellyfish. On the sound side there is a foot wash so you can get the sand off for the walk back which is nice. We could not find a foot wash on the Atlantic side so it was a little uncomfortable to walk back but not that big of a deal. We stopped by the pool and used their foot wash on the way back to the room. The kids loved it. It was nice to have shops and restaurants right down stairs. We could hear the kids dance party in the bedroom (it was right next to the courtyard) in the afternoon but that wasn't a big deal. The shops and restaurants shut down at 10 PM so we didn't have any noise problems sleeping at night. The pool was nice and was surprised that even being right next to the parking lot they had nicely landscaped so when you are there you don't even notice the parking lot. You have to have a special key to the pool so it keeps the crowds down from people swimming who are not staying at the Inn. It was about a 2 minute walk to the pool. They have a few boat trips leaving from the marina that looked fun and lots of kids activities in the courtyard. No problem parking at the Marina right in front of our room even on 4th of July weekend. I will definitely go back!

My husband and I just returned from a 5 night stay at the South Beach Inn. We had a wonderful stay! We stayed in room 215, with a Harbor view and the room was very cute and amazingly clean and fresh. I loved it the minute I walked in. The location and value of the Inn cannot be beat. We enjoyed being right at the Marina and in the middle of everything. We often sat on our balcony and listened to the music from the Salty Dog in the evening. Bike rentals were right next door and we had bikes for our entire stay. Even though the day and early evenings were busy with lots of people enjoying the Marina, shops and restaurants...things were very quiet by 10pm and we always had a peaceful nights sleep. We will definitely return again!

Room Tip: "Harbor rooms had excellent views of the entire Marina"

My husband, 14 month old, and I just returned from a long weekend at the South Beach Inn. I checked out reviews here on Trip Advisor before we booked, and I am so glad that we did! The outstanding reviews were spot-on! The ladies at the front desk were incredibly hospitable. The room was very clean. And the location was even better than expected! There were shops all around and even children's programming (music shows, magician, etc) all for free right outside our door! There was even a playground! We could also rent bikes conveniently at the marina. The only unexpected aspect was a bit of a walk to the beach and lots of jelly fish, but that's nature for ya! What a vacation! We'd 100% recommend South Beach Inn to our friends and family! There's no better place for the money on HHI!!

We stayed here for two nights for a quick getaway. We stayed in room 216. Such a cute place. Our room was perfect and you couldn't ask for a better location. The ladies at check in were so friendly. We felt at home right from the start. This place is a great value. We hope to return soon. Thanks for making our visit to HHI a great one.

We stayed there at the end of our Georgia/Florida/South Carolina holiday for just one night before our flight back to Scotland. I wish I had stayed longer.

The room we had was superb and the area itself very relaxed, perfect. 3 bars and some shops in the vicinity as well as a pool and near the sea. Nothing is over priced. I can't rate it highly enough.

The ladies in reception were extremely helpful and friendly too. I hope to return when next in the USA.

Room Tip: Harbour view rooms recommended.

First off the location is amazing! The Inn is right there at the Salty Dog so there are a few shops you can visit. There are biking trails that begin right outside the entrance to the Salty Dog. Every room is unique in its own way. Our extended family rented four rooms and none of them were similar. The A/C works like a charm which is perfect for the hot summers Hilton Head is accustomed to. The free wifi is also a plus that not many hotels around here offer.

Now the negatives.. The location can also be a bad place. Since you are in the middle of the Salty Dog there is a lot of people which can get noisy. The windows look right in the courtyard, where a lot of people gather, so privacy is also an issue. Next, the kitchenette is quite small. It has just the basics: a full size fridge, microwave, and tiny sink without a garbage disposal. Lastly, the TV's are both good and bad. They're brand new SMART TV so you can link your NETFLIX and be able to watch movies. But there are only five stations which are the basic cable stations.

Overall, it's a good place to spend a few nights. I wouldn't recommend spending much longer than that because it can get cramped. If you plan on spending your time in Hilton Head staying busy, then this may be the best choice.

We stayed at the South Beach Marina inn in late October and had a wonderful stay. The accomodations are bright and colorful. The loft unit we stayed in has a spiral staircase to the loft area which had two queen beds. The loft made the unit very spacious, but some people might find it uncomfortable to climb the narrow spiral staircase. We have stayed in several different rooms at the inn and each has some uniqueness to them so customers who are more particular may want to discuss the room options with the staff before booking. The staff is very friendly and the accessability to the shops, marina, beach and Salty Dog Cafe was great.

Room Tip: If you are ok with the narrow Spiral staircase the loft rooms are very spacious, open and airy.
