“Great rooms and location, annoying "resort fee"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We had an impromptu two-night stay at this hotel and would come back. It has a tropical, all-inclusive air about it - open hallways, beautiful grounds, great pools - and the rooms are spacious. Our courtyard-view room actually had a good view of the ocean and was well-equipped with mini-fridge, toaster, microwave, dishes, and coffee maker. There are two grocery stores within a mile (Fresh Market, which I recommend for their organic selection, and Piggly Wiggly) so stock up and avoid the overpriced restaurant and market within the hotel. There are three pools - two for families, one off to the side for adults - and two whirlpools, plus a ping pong table, random rocking chairs and comfy seating areas, fire pits, and a giant chess/checker board.

If you have a car with you or need internet access, be prepared to pay an additional $18/day "resort fee" to cover those things, annoying since both are de rigeur at most other hotels (including cheapies like Motel 6) and the fee isn't mentioned until you've checked in and handed over your credit card. Beach chairs aren't included either - you can rent two plus an umbrella from the life guards for $20/day. Private cabanas and seating areas are also for rent, in case you need to be roped off from the riff-raff...

Room Tip: I was nervous about having a room by the elevator but it was surprisingly quiet.

I had never been to Hilton Head prior to this trip and I must say, it was a pleasant surprise. It is definitely a relaxed, tropical, family friendly resort. The rooms are very spacious, great with the kitchenette (microwave/fridge/sink) area. The pools were great for kids, with the beach type of walk in, as well as a splash pad for the young ones. The adult pool is more secluded with servers around as you need them. The access to the beach was perfect, just steps away from the pool area. I would say the only thing that probably could use some updating would be the bathtubs/showers. Also, I wasn't aware that the halls/doors to the hotel was open to atrium/outside. Usually I associate this with motels, but in this case it wasn't as bad as I think.

Really enjoyed winding down for a few days on Hilton Head Island. The Omni is well-maintained, comfortable and quiet in September. On-site restaurant, HH Prime was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. Well above the quality we expected from a hotel restaurant. The room was large and comfortable and, even though it was not one of the ocean front rooms, we could see the ocean from the balcony. We had only been to HH once previously and had stayed at the Hilton. Turns out it was this hotel before Omni took it over two years ago. This property has an adults only pool separate from the two family pools and easy access to the beach.

Recently stayed at the OMNI, picked it based on price and amenities. It exceeded our expectation with the exception of the shower water temp - which was resolved. Cudo's for the concierge staff, Mellisa arranged my golf outing and dinner recommendations for the second Night. Hanna recommended Michael Anthony's for the first night - great place to go. We had a great time at the Omni but we only had three days - we plan on going back

Took a one night escape down to Hilton head, beautiful hotel with great facilities. I was very impressed with the ease of access for check in and the general hotel ambience. Very well done Omni will return if I can. Great pool with easy access to the waterfront. Would recommend for anyone for a romantic weekend.

Stayed at this resort for 4 nights in August after spending a week in Disney World. I had stayed at this property when it was a Hilton and the renovations to the pool area and grounds are evident and a plus. The weather leading up to our stay was wet so the hallways (which are covered yet open to the elements to some degree) did have a faintly musty smell as a result of the damp conditions. The rooms are quite large and the kitchenette area is nice; however, the cabinets were chipped a bit (veneer coming off) and I was surprised given the remodeling that this was already very evident.

The rate we had included a $200 room credit which I opted for in lieu of the bed and breakfast rate; however, one breakfast buffet for a family of 4 with tip was over $70.00 so be warned. I have stayed at the Marriot in Hilton Head and their breakfast buffet was a full buffet whereas the buffet at the Omni was very limited and in my opinion somewhat over priced - whereas the lunch menu at the pool was not as bad. Poolside drinks were expensive so you may want to stock your own refrigerator with alcohol if that is your thing.

All in all, we were happy with the hotel. We only paid about $245 per night with tax so for that amount the room was worth it - resort view room double. I would not book a parking lot view room as some of those are almost on top of the front ends of parked vehicles and who wants that as their balcony view......

Room Tip: Resort has very nice landscaped courtyard around pool therefore resort view is fine if you do not wa...
