We should have known how our weekend would turn out as soon as we asked the receptionist, "Do you have any beach view rooms available?" and he said "Absolutely." Since you can tell from the picture above that the hotel sits on the beach, our real question was obviously "Can we get a beach view room?" I would have appreciated an honest answer of, "No, unfortunately there are none available this weekend."

Not only were we not provided a beach view room, we were given a room on the third floor which looked out on to a roof and a wall that you could not look around and on the other side of our room was the noisy second floor lobby. We could hear employees taking catering equipment down until 2 in the morning and setting up starting at 6 am. When we complained and asked for either a different room or earplugs, the reception desk was unapologetic.

Other items that were disappointing were the pool area is small, so it also gets extremely crowded during the summer. The food is typical resort food - unappetizing and boring, which is especially sad since we were hoping to try some southern cooking. The spa was small, noisy because it sits next to the pool, so you can hear children screaming from the pool area, and the massage did nothing to relieve any of the stress suffered through the weekend.

If this is the best that Marriott or Hilton Head has to offer, please avoid at all cost.

My husband and I stayed one night at this Marriott after spending 2 nights in Charleston. We were very disappointed in this property. The drive in was beautiful and of course the beach and pool are lovely. For the price the room is less we had been in previously and we paid more $$. There were a couple of bugs in the room also. We thought being Marriott members we would get a nice room and we were at the very end of a hallway which overlooked the front of the hotel. We did get to see fireworks off
the balcony. Very disappointed in the room.

Very nice property!. As well located as any on Hilton Head. Staff was extremely friendly, many activities for children. Great pool area and beach. A couple complaints--room while accomodating was not great and not a Hilton. Rather small with no refrigerator or microwave. Two queens were cramped for 4 people. Also, did see roaches on property, including room. Balcony had not been cleaned and had old cigarette butts on floor. Internet $9.95 per day in room plus resort charge and parking charge. Bellhops were not very attentive. Watched as we unloaded car and loaded car without offering any help. Also, convenience store in hotel was outrageous!! 20oz bottle water was $4.00!! Candy bar $3.00. Disney World prices. General Store is short walk from hotel and has much more at more reasonable prices.

Booked through hotwire.com, room was overlooking parking lot with no view at all. Went to front desk to ask for a upgrade. Per the front desk no rooms until, I offer to pay more, and what do you know but a room appeared. I paid $300 more for the week got room 306. First the wireless wouldn't work, which I must have for work. Then nails coming thru carpet at sliding glass doors. Next ceiling linked twice alot not just a little,cause us to miss dinner one night waiting on someone to come fix it. All we got for our trouble was a candy apple. I looked at the guy and said your kidding right. The TV had limited channels not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The staff was always friendly almost to the point of being fake. All I can say is stay at the Hilton don't waste your money there.
