“Beautiful View, Enjoyable Evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

Ela's Blu Water Grille is located on Shelter Cove and has the advantage of a wondeful location (opposite the shopping area). I have been going to Hilton Head long enough that I remember the building in former lives as other restaurants. A recent event evening there established that Ela's is doing credit to the area. We had a party of six couples and our wait staff did an excellent job answering questions, responding to requests and offer suggestions. Equally good were the drinks as well as all the dinner items (the calamari is outstanding..very different). The atmosphere is relaxed. We were upstairs which did allow for good conversation at the table and took us out of the good times coming from downstairs. We look forward to our next visit.

“Not as Impressive As I thought It Would Be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

This restaurant was disappointing. The view from the restaurant is fabulous and the wine that we had was very good but the food was not that great and the service was extremely poor. There were 3 servers for our very large group of around 70 people. No one was made available to tend the bar. We had to open our own bottle of wine and pour for the table. Not what we were expecting. I had the swordfish and was very disappointed. Over cooked and served with some tasteless couscous. Not sure if I would return or recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

“Perfect for brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

Ela's is right on the water. The restaurant is very pretty. They have the best eggs Benedict on the island. The breakfast burrito and crab omelette are also delicious. Skip the cinnamon rolls, they were disappointing and the waitress took them off our bill. Cant go wrong with Mimosas, champagne or bloody Mary's for $4 each.

I have also come here for dinner. If you can get a seat by the window on Tuesdays during the high season you will have a perfect view for the fireworks.

Enjoy!!

“Change of Pace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

It was busy for a Wednesday night, but our waiter kept up just fine and had a good sense of humor, too. Just attentive enough without being a nuisance and, although he was fairly new, like most waiters on Hilton Head at the start of the tourist season, he knew the menu well (i.e., he knew what was cooking in the kitchen) and answered all our questions. Which was good, because some of the preparations are a bit out of the ordinary, such as the beet salad, which is definitely worth trying as is a tasty hummis appetizer. The duck entree was excellent as well. So although there were steaks on the menu, this is more than a meat-and-potatoes place. The menu has some neat beers on it and a small but solid choice of wines. Desserts are great. The chocolate mousse was good, and the chocolate mousse cake was terrific. The only disappointment was the calamari, another example of an unusual preparation. It was rolled into tubular pinky-finger sized portions, dredged in bread crumbs and broiled (I think) not deep fried. If you like the tentacles and a little crunch to your calamari, you can pass on this version. Slightly pricey perhaps butworth a try. Great views of the water and Shelter Cove Harbour.

“On the harbor, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

With reservations, we sat outside on the deck, overlooking the harbor. They had heaters outside but some of the areas weren't covered with heat well. Slow service, but others have commented on that. There was a special request with one of the dishes that one wanted to order, but the waiter rebuffed the request, making the person just order appetizers for dinner. Maybe worth it if the service gets better.
