We had an "enjoyable" evening at Trattoria Divina, although there were a few "rough patches".
As noted elsewhere, the complimentary Prosecco and grape/blue cheese "mini app" started the meal off nicely. There was a bit of "discomfort" when two of our party of five wished "beer", not wine. We were made to feel that "beer" is NOT ?appropriate for "fine" dining. The beer we chose ended up NOT being available (had been 'used up' for 'cooking') and when the house-suggested Italian beer was "rejected", there was a bit of ?fuss that we asked for "Heineken".
Being HUNGRY, we asked for the bread to "come". This was received as being ?impatient. We had read about the wonderful bread, and it IS indeed... perhaps... the BEST part of the meal.
Our dinners were ordered and we were basically "pleased" with the choices. The Shrimp Scampi was especially fine. The pasta dishes, RAVIOI di SPINACI and AGNOLOTTI TARTUFO NERO e PORCINI were good. This writer did not sample the CAPPASANTE alla DIVINA.
Unfortunately, the Shrimp Scampi dish "crashed" to the floor just before being served. The kitchen and waitress did everything possible to remedy the situation quickly, including "comping" the Scampi and giving us a taste of their VERY interesting "Ice Sculpture Sorbet".
We had hosted a largish, family "dinner party" at Divina in April 2012 and were EXTREMELY pleased. This return visit left a few things to be desired. Perhaps the stars were not in alignment....
