“Simply Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2011

We stayed in the Turnberry villas on the Fazio course. The 2BR/2BA villa was perfect. It was clean, looked updated, big, flat screen tv in family room. Nice kitchen with island. Plenty of room for family of 4-6. Courses were in good shape. Green, fairways and tee boxes were great. To get to Turnberry from main plantation, you need a special pass through a guarded gate. So we felt safe that the only people back here are the people staying here. Nice. The on-site bike rental dropped our bikes off the day we arrived. We rode to the beach, locked up bikes and walked the beach every day. We rode bikes tto eat lunch daily. Perfect. Our favorite course on the plantation is the Arthur Hills course on-site. We love it here. Always stayed at the Marriot but definitely will do the villas again. They gave us a gas gift card and merchandise or golf gift card as well. Perfect stay !

“Loved Palmetto Dunes, but mostly because of the perfect weather.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2011

We stayed at Hampton 5107 and had a wonderful vacation. The grounds were beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was unseasonably warm, and we were very fortunate because there was no indoor pool (a fact that I had missed when I was researching rentals--my fault). The outdoor pool was heated, and with the warm weather, it got up to 86 degrees. We had a great time at the pool, but it would have been even better if the kiddie pool had been heated and the hot tub hadn't broken down. The beach was great and not a long walk at all. This was wonderful because with four boys, we were transporting lots of sand toys, towels, and coolers.

The pictures from Hilton Head Rentals and Golf were accurate, but they didn't show the broken window seals which resulted in a somewhat obstructed view of the pools and beach. They also showed a fabric-covered sectional couch, but when we got there, two leather couches had replaced it. Being in shorts or (dry) swimsuits, sitting on the leather couches was not cozy at all.

We don't golf, so we can't comment on that topic.

We did go on a dolphin watching tour, but we saw no dolphins. It was still a fun boat ride, though.

The rooms were spacious and, on first glance, clean; however, whenever we had the patio doors open and a breeze resulted, dust bunnies were blown around the floor from under the furniture. The patio itself was filthy. The furniture had not been cleaned in months and there were piles of leaves that had collected.

We were also disappointed by the fridge that didn't dispense water or ice, although the ice maker DID work. The deadbolt also didn't work. I would have had concerns if I were alone or with a group of women, but with my husband there, this problem didn't concern me at much as it probably should have.

“Palmetto Dunes George Fazio Golf Course, make sure you play it during your visit to HHI!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2009

We recently visited HHI and were fortunate to have played the Palmetto Dunes George Fazio Course. The course was in excellent shape and features a layout that is challenging and fun. We like the PD courses because they don't get overloaded and backed up like some other courses do. After our round, I was able to schedule a lesson with the course pro Samm Wolfe, who, in one lesson helped me to relax over the ball and play my own game better. I would recommend this course and it's head pro, Samm to players of all ability who want to have a great day on the links!

“Great family site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2005

We have vacationed at many of the best Southeastern coastal resorts and Palmetto Dunes stacks up quite favorably. Several of the rental agencies have accurate virtual tours of the availlable condos & homes. Excellent beach - although minus the amenities found at a Sea Island - nice pools, and above average golf

“Great Family Resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2005

Don't judge the resort by one reviewer's bad experience. Have stayed here 2 summers. We rent a home with another family for a week and have a great time. Tennis and golf are all nearby. Great beach access. You can bike almost everywhere. Stay away from the hotels and get a town house or house. We have gone to Kiawah too. Kiawah is great with better golf courses and homes, but if you have kids Hilton Head has lots more to do. Kiawah has great nature programs, but is small with little to do at night unless you travel to Charleston. Hilton Head has more and better restaurants and Savannah is 45 minutes away. On the Palmetto Dunes property the Robert Trent Jones course is the only quality course. There are many other area courses, including Harbour Town although it is expensive and a bit overrated. The tennis program is great.
