“Stay Away From RCI”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2011 via mobile

We mistakenly brought at this resort. The reviews you have read about being lied, being charged $1000. for the "free" developer week, and not being able to book a vacation when you want are all true. Don't do it! We had to buy points just to visit. The week we bought was "not available.". When we checked in we were directed to a RCI host that wanted us to schedule a time to talk to RCI representatives about their special updates for owners only. We went because we had two other couples with us and we each would get $100. for listening to the quick update (60 minutes). During the update they basically said we were ripped off because we don't have enough points to do anything, but for more money we could upgrade and be able to do anything we wanted whenever we wanted. We've heard that before. When we refused the representative continued to insult us and call us stupid for not giving them more money. We patiently sat through it and smiled as we took their $300. The money was the only positive thing that happened. The resort is nice but needs some repair work. The pool is huge but has several spots in the tile with missing grout and it could use repainting job. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We stayed in a three bedroom and they are newer than some of the other condos. It's close to the golf course and that is the reason we chose to stay. Don't do it. There are plenty of nicer places to stay that don't cost nearly as much.

We really enjoyed our visit at the Island Links Resort. The resort offered many family events and the pool was great. We used the shuttle to go to the beach and only left once to get some food to cook in the kitchen. We all had a blast! We even saw an alligator in the lagoon! The condo was very clean and had lots of room for extra family members who stopped in for a night. Well worth the investment. I recommend that you bring beach chairs and a tent for the beach. Otherwise, you can rent an umbrella and two chairs at the Westin for $30 a day...kind of high.

Room Tip: Get unit 126 for best access to pool and clubhouse

My husband, myself and my cousin stayed here for 4 days. Check in was very fast and easy. We got the 2 bedroom and it was so nice! Very, very clean when we arrived. No signs of bugs in the rooms. Very quiet and peaceful place. The only downside was if we sat outside on the balcony at night it would be attack of the monster bugs. Expected, because most of the buildings are surrounded by trees. The pool area was awesome. Next time we are bringing our three kids. If youre looking for something peaceful and resort'ish'- Island Links is your place. To get to the beach you have to take a shuttle to the Westin which goes and leaves about every hour. Shuttle was a little unreliable and only fit about 9 people. Im guessing if there were more than 9 people at pickup- they would have called an additional shuttle. Other than that, it was a great experience and we cant wait to bring the kids back!

We just finished a wonderful Easter week at Island Links. We enjoyed a wonderful stay in a 3 bedroom, sleeps 10 unit. It accomodated our 2 adult children and our son's family with 2 small children wonderfully. With a first floor unit our grandson loved the lagoon and daily turtle watching. The pool is exceptional, especially for small children with a beach entry and motion activated water spray area, and multiple waterfalls. The beach is a little far but parking is readily available at the Westin or the metered lot at the public beach park. Or a beautiful bike ride away. The unit is very spacious with plenty of towels, dishes, cookware for the size of the unit. We will definitely return!

The first couple of days, we thought this resort was very nice. Nice convenient pool and hot tub. The third morning we went to the hot tub---it was closed---for 2 weeks for resurfacing. No word of this in the literature we received from the resort prior to our stay. Their response was--"you can use the one at the Westin" a mile or so away. Very inconvenient if you just want to run out to the hot tub with a glass of wine after a day of biking, etc.
Also, the parking area is gravel and sand--that certainly cheapens the place. We own in a different plantation, but decided we would give Island Links a look. But because of the inconsideration regarding the hot tub, we will go back to our plantation and that area.

We have stayed at Island Links several times and have found each time enjoyable. My parents are time share owners and spend the winter on HHI. This is one of my favorite places to stay on the island. The condos are roomy, clean and up-to-date decorating wise. There is more than enough room for 4 adults and 2 children. The pools are nice, though we've never stayed when the big pool was heated (march). The small pool is heated and is one of the few places on the island to heat their pool that early in the year. Also, the resort is affiliated with the Westin Hotel and you can use their pool and exercise room. The only downside to this resort is that it is a 15 minute walk to the ocean. We rent bikes and ride down though.

We will enjoy this resort for many years to come.

We are Disney Vacation Club members and used our points to stay here. We rented a 3 BR unit. The condo was great: corian countertops, nice decor, comfortable beds. As noted before, the 3rd bedroom is connected to the master. This worked out great for us because of our two small kids. The location was great, just turn left out of the main entrance and you are on 278, in the heart of the island. The only complaint we had was the staff was not friendly. However, we only had to deal with them during check in and out.
