Dear Dan,
I couldn't agree more about the helpful staff we have on hand here at the Resort and enjoy hearing that you have been coming here for years. With all of the new activities and food options we have added recently such as KIDZ Play night, Kazoobie show, local live entertainment, karaoke and the new Carolina Seafood House, we hope to have you coming to visit us more often.

We have stayed at the HHI Beach and Tennis Resort before. We were a little disappointed at first
when our unit did not have the bunk beds which we had requested. Within an hour they had found
a unit and we couldn't have been happier. Our granddaughter loved her cozy spot. It really helps
to have a kitchen so you can save on meals. Piggly Wiggly was our best friend. Will book here again when in HHI!!!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in a one bedroom in the A building. The units are all individually owned so they can vary greatly from unit to unit. We stayed in A118 (we rented through VRBO). The condo was very small, but very cozy, clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our short stay. There was only a mini fridge, but it was fine for our needs. The unit did have hall bunks so it could accommodate children, but I think it would be very crowded with more than 2 people in the room. We didn't have a view except of the the small lagoon, but we were very close to the boardwalk to the beach and the pool was close as well. The pool is very large and there is a smaller pool in the complex as well. This is an older, no frills complex that has an excellent location on Folly Field beach. If you are looking for an affordable way to be close to the beach with a pool (and several restaurants) this is a good spot for you. Take your time choosing a unit to be sure it has what you are looking for.

Room Tip: Units are individually owned and can vary in cleanliness and decor

I wanted to take a trip with my husband for my birthday with the objective of staying somewhere on the ocean. When booking my trip, I decided that it would be worth the extra expense to have an "ocean view" room as opposed to the "garden view" room. However, there was literally no view of the ocean from our room. We could only see the palm tree immediately in front of our balcony and expansive views of the parking lot. It was actually quite a long walk to the beach considering that our room was supposedly ocean view.

Also, the bed in our room was the most worn-out and unsupportive mattress that I have ever slept on, and as a result, I slept on the couch for our entire vacation.

That being said, the pool area is very nice and the beach in front of the resort was relatively uncrowded. I just wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice peaceful beach vacation. Hiking to the beach and sleeping alone on a couch weren't on my list of to-dos.

Dear Hillary M,
Thank you for your review and happy belated birthday! The Island prides itself on the lush local vegetation it has, however we are sorry it obstructed your view of the "Atlantic". If you are willing to try us again I recommend calling the Resort directly and speaking to one of our knowledgeable Resort experts at 800-ISLAND1 and have them choose the perfect view for you. With so many villa options to choose from, we are more than happy to allow our customers to hand select the perfect villa that will accommodate their preferences.
We apologize that the mattress was not to your liking. When our staff of management is notified of a situation of dislike or discomfort we always try to find an immediate resolution for guest satisfaction. Since all of our villas are privately owned we will work with the owner on replacement, thank you for letting us know. We hope that you will give us another try!

My husband and I have stayed at the Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort many time. We would rather stay here at the resort than a hotel any day. Some condos are wonderful and others need some updating. I have found that it is best to view the condos online then to call the resort to book so that you can ask questions about any renovations that have been made to the condo you are planning on renting as some of the photos are a few years old.

We booked 2 condos, 1 for our family and 1 for our friends, through Travel Advantage Network (TAN) for June 9-16. We had units in the tennis buildings, E19 and E22. We were pleasantly surprised (because sometimes the rooms through TAN are iffy) with both units this time. They were updated and decently decorated. It wasn't a far walk to the pool and beach, probably 5 minutes. You can also rent bikes on property for reasonable price, we paid $23 per bike for the week. The large oceanfront pool is very nice, more than half the pool is shallow, great for younger kids so they can stand. And there is a kiddie pool too. The pool bar and grill plays live music sometimes from 4-7pm. There is also another smaller pool by the units called Admirals Row. There are charcoal grills at the back of the resort with a playground. The tennis courts are used and you need to sign up at the pro-shop before playing. Night play is supposed to be done with tokens I believe, but we only played earlier so I'm not sure how that works. There is a laundry area if needed. We ate at the Carolina Seafood House, we saw a sign that said kids eat free on Tues nights...it was decent food and worth it for the free kids meals (4 adults and 5 kids ate for under $75 plus tip). The beach was beautiful in front of the resort...pretty much like all of Hilton Head (we've stayed in the Shipyard Plantation area twice before). Softer whiteish sand, nice dunes, wide beach when the tide is out (we rode our bikes on it one day, but it was pretty windy so the kids didn't make it far:) Water temp at the lifeguard stand said 75 degrees, but I think it felt warmer than that, we were never cold swimming and boogie boarding in it! In all we had a relaxing, fun week at the beach, and we would certainly return to this resort again.

When booking the condo for a girls weekend, I didn't think we would find luxury due to the price. I did believe we would find a condo that would at least be clean. The carpet was badly stained and your socks were black from walking across the floor. The kitchen had a kool-aid spill on the counter that had not been cleaned from the group before. The bathroom and kitchen floor were sticky. There was exposed wire behind the sofa. If the dishwasher was running, the entire right side of the condo was out of power. BEWARE of tennis villa A24. Needless to say, I will not return.
