Great service!! Great location!! Everything was wonderful. Especially enjoyed Steve, bartender at pool bar, who was entertaining and knowledgeable about restaurants---guided us to wonderful places. Marvil, parking valet, was extremely helpful and friendly.

Ok so the pros, the location is in the very secluded plantation of Shipyard and there is a guarded gate for access. The drive in is lovely as the roads are lined with live oaks covered in moss and ponds and golf courses. The hotel has a later check in than most which is 4pm and they came right down to the wire there in having our room ready. We were not happy with the garden view room because it was a lackluster view and very noisy. We downgraded to a grounds view on the outside of the building and were much happier and it was $40 per night cheaper. Note, they neglected to make the adjustments to our bill for the downgrade and had to be reminded. The staff is so friendly. You pass by anyone and they want to engage you in conversation and seem genuinely happy to be there. The beach access is terrific and easily walked. There are turtle filled ponds on the property and have beautiful facilities for special events like weddings. The restaurants featured buffets for breakfast and a seafood one for dinner, both very good. The pool areas are nice but I suggest making the covered pool and hot tub adult only. They offer chaise lounges and towels which are ready for use at all times. We visited the spa and got one of the best massages I have ever had... Two big thumbs up.The fruit infused water in the lobby is a nice touch. The biggest issues for us were noise from the pool in our original room. You can hear screaming kids inside the room during the day. Also, the rooms could be better soundproofed. We had to buy a fan for some white noise to cancel out the people walking the halls at night. All in all, a pleasant stay. Wifi and cell service are both spotty, but hey, you're on vacation right?

Could not think of anything negative or bad, best experience ever all the way around. They have hospitality down pat. Normally when we go on vacation I find something not up to our standards, not this time!

Arrived on Saturday around 1 and we were pleasantly surprised to be able to check in early. At check in we mentioned in passing that it was our anniversary. When we returned from the beach we were greeted by chilled champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The beach is a brief walk past the pools and small turtle filled ponds. Free towel service.great walking paths in the neighborhood. Room service breakfast, pool-side lunch and dinner at hotel restaurant were very good. Excellent out door seating areas. Seemed like there were many kid activities.

We stayed 4 nights the last week in May at this very nice, full service beach resort and had a wonderful time. While not as luxe as the Inn at Harbor Town, the Sonesta offers much more in terms of facilities and activities and is ideal for families. There are three restaurants and a bar, and the food - though not adventurous - was uniformly very good throughout. The huge beach is just a short walk over the dunes, and the hotel wraps around a nicely landscaped garden area with a large free-form pool with towel service, poolside restaurant, two lagoons with fountains, bike rentals and more. Inside, decor is contemporary with Asian influences and the open lobby is beautiful. Our deluxe king garden-view room was roomy, quiet, and included a sleeper sofa, desk and patio balcony. Bedding was very comfortable with down-filled duvet and pillows. Cost was $300 per night including taxes and fees. A tip on rooms - all of the interior perimeter rooms offer a garden/pool view, which is your best bet. Exterior perimeter rooms look out on the surrounding grounds and parking lots. Ocean views are limited because of the dunes and may not be worth your money. Guests while we were there ranged from toddlers to the elderly and a business conference. There are lots of activities for kids including turtle feeding and free movies by the pool at night. But I do have a couple of quibbles. Bottled water in the rooms at $4 seems excessive, and there is no free coffee in the lobby. Coffee is sold at the bar beginning at 6:30, which is a little late for an early riser like me. Even so, it was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend it for families.
