I just came back from my stay in HHI and I gotta say I will be back ! I picked the sonesta resort for the great reviews it got here and I was not disappointed . Check in was a breeze . The room we stayed in was spacious , clean and comfy . Staff was amazing , Eric at the front desk made sure we had a great stay , he was friendly , attentive and professional in all our exchanges . I highly recommend this resort , my girlfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here and will surely be back .

We spent a couple of nights here on the spur of the moment get away and was blown away ... The rooms are wonderful and the staff is very good. The pool and beach access were fantastic.
The front desk gave us a couple of suggestions for dinner and we were delighted in there recommendations. We will return someday .

Room Tip: High garden/pool view will give you a decent view of the ocean .

Beautiful Finishes modern yet very relaxed, very well done! Tropical vibe was very fun due to many staff members being from Jamaica. We loved the light floor sensors in the rooms they turn on when you get out of bed. The food was excellent (pricey but expected at a resort in town prices were also pricey). The pool was very crowded and it would be nice to have an adult only area. The ocean is a short walk but the grounds are well maintained. A couple of glitches, limited seating at pool area due to guest reserving chairs, management quickly resolved this the following day by posting a no reserve sign, concierge should be available in the evenings for dinner recommendations. Damian makes excellent frozen cocktails at the pool bar area. Some music available on the weekends, beautiful lobby area and casual music, more music by the pool would be great, We loved the bike paths and short ride into town by bike. Sign up for the Travel Reward program for discounts on food and spa services and points add up fast for comp nights. Overall an excellent stay.

This resort lived up to my expectations after reading other reviews on Trip Advisor. We just got home yesterday from a 6 day stay with our 7 and almost 2 year old and another couple with their two boys. I would definitely return to the Sonesta again. One of the highlights of the resort was the great pool, with a zero entry, shallow area that was perfect for my 2 year old to walk in and out of the water. The pool is large, clean and we felt like coming towards the end of August was perfect because it was NEVER crowded (the same with restaurants on the island...I read horror stories of 2 hour waits for dinner but this past week we never had a wait to get in anywhere). The only thing that would have made the pool experience slightly better would be a swim up bar for the adults, but there is one in the pool area that you can order drinks and lunch/snacks from. The beach access was fantastic...literally just a short walk down a landscaped path. The beach itself is beautiful. I recommend going in the early morning and especially evening around sunset. Both times are peaceful, uncrowded and perfect for picture taking! If you have a chance, rent bikes and ride around the beach in the morning. The sand is so compact that it is like riding on a road with a gorgeous view. As for the restaurants on the resort, the food and drinks are overpriced, but the drinks are amazing and the breakfast a la carte menu at Heywards was delicious. The kids menu is a steal compared to the adult menu, so we ordered the kids lunch everyday for $6/each and it was generous sized. Ask the concierge for the book of all the restaurants with menus so you can try different places for dinner each night. One last tip...sign up for the Sonesta rewards programs either on their website before you get there or when you check in for upgraded highspeed internet, 10% off all food at the resort and 15% spa services. It's free to sign up and every little bit helps. The upgraded internet helped me keep up with a few work things while we were away. Overall we will highly recommend the Sonesta to everyone.

My husband and I had always wanted to stay in Hilton Head. We selected this hotel because it was on the beach and appeared to be quiet and private-sort of out of the way. The hotel was quite expensive but was willing to pay the price for a beachfront hotel with all the amenities. We were not impressed! We did get to walk the beach, but it is a little bit of a walk to get to it. The beaches are narrow and crowded. The hotel was noisy alot of families with children. I guess it is all in what you are looking for not so much a couples romantic getaway! The room was spacious, clean, just a bit noisy! We ate at the resturant food was good!

Room Tip: Spacious rooms and clean....just noisy!

Once you are arrive I see no reason to leave again until time to go home. Everything is taken care of by great staff. Great pool area with bar and grill. Room service is very good. Beach is right outside the door.

This was a last minute run to the beach for a little R&R before back to school for my rising junior. I was actually shooting for the Omni via Priceline but won this Sonesta Resort instead. I must say overall we were very pleased the property is beautiful. Even the lobby w/ its high end finishes and bright but classy decor. The front desk was accommodating; the room was spacious and formatted nicely. Sitting area, small balcony, writing desk, large flat screen, comfy mattresses and a tub. Very minor finishing issues in the bathroom if I wasn't looking I wouldn't have noticed. Room services/ in room dining was a weak spot... first they did heat up some leftovers (no in room microwaves?? #fail) so that was appreciated. The menu was somewhat limited and the prices were severely escalated. Basically we paid for another night’s stay in food over the course of 2 days, including the daily resort fee. So pack snacks. One of the women that delivered food wasn't very friendly either. The pool was bath warm, very spacious w/ a good quantity of seating. The beach was a short sandy walk through the pool area and well maintained. A very restful weekend to say the least, completely worth it at a discount.
