we made it a point to stop here after reading other glowing reviews about the toppings bar, but the reality was a few toppings in squeeze bottles (hershey's syrup, etc..), and some dry toppings. it was hardly an elaborate setup and while it was a nice option, it was certainly nothing to merit a special trip.

This is great ice cream! Great place to go on a rainy day or after a long beach day or after dinner! The kids love it!

This used to be a real popular place to visit in the 1990s, but it hasn't been kept up as well as it should be. Teenagers who usually man the counter seem to be less interested in being helpful. More interested in their text messages. Flavors are not as exciting as they once were. Place is a bit unkempt. But the aquarium is something that always attracts the kids, and they seem to like the place, so we keep coming back.

Hilton Head Ice Cream is our first stop when we get to the island before we can check in at our beloved Palmetto Dunes! It's a real throwback to the 80's with lots of kitschy decorations and a very interesting aquarium. Little kids love this place. Oh, and yes, the ice cream! I think the ice cream is subtle and sophisticated. It doesn't scream sweetness but is more flavorful and creamy. The folks who work there are dedicated and know their ice cream! It's not a glitzy experience but one more in keeping with the quiet surroundings. Wish I had a cone right now!
