“Great winter spot - but a walk/drive to beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

nice timeshare exchange, 2 br/2bath sleeps 8. heated pool just outside building. very large (huge, actually) condo w 2 porches, 2 king beds (very unusual for timeshares) and 2 foldout couches in large w sitting areas living room. dining room table seats only 6 and silverware and cups only for 6 (plates for 8). whirlpool tubs and separate large showers in both bathrooms. basics for cooking, bring your own cookie pans, etc if you plan to bake. very close to beach on paper but a walk to beach access or drive to beachclub access (club closed in winter). checkin was excellent, nobody asked us to a timeshare presentation, and late/overnight checkin available, all very much appreciated. Free wifi! 3 tvs w many channels in unit!
master bath layout odd- tub placed into area where you walk in, beware your shins. no bugs seen, not a one, despite others' reviews. outside elevator and rolling carts. note there are several stairs to the elevator from the parking lot, otherwise flat. no winter activities other than monday am breakfast which we didnt get to. other activities require leaving plantation, going across road to another place for their activities, workout room, etc.
Grounds beautiful but very, very dark at night.
for a restful time in winter, and if you like to walk on the beach/to/from the beach/drive a short distance to private parking on a private beach, its great.

Room Tip: top floor has cathedral ceiling in living room.

The units were not all that clean. Which is definitly a problem for me. The master bedroom has an attached bathroom and every night there were cock Roaches in the bathroom. We contacted services and they wanted to come spray inside, I Wanted them to spray outside. We told them "NO" we were going to leave early, and we had infants in the 3 units that we got. They came and sprayed anyway. VERY DISAPPOINTED. RCI gave me $150 credit to use on a vacation booked within 2 months. We just got back. That isn't going to happen. The units are NOT cleaned well. The carpets are dirty, and the corners in the kitchen have not been cleaned at all.

My husband and I were invited by another couple who are timeshare owners. We could not have been more pleased. We were in cottage 12, 3-bed, 3-bath -- a great location, quiet, with a lagoon and fountain just off the large screened-in porch - very private. And access to Shipyard Plantation is well restricted.

Furnishings very good; towels and sheets good quality and spotless; large sunny kitchen well outfitted; large master w bath downstairs, small bedroom downstairs w twin beds and bath; large bedroom w twin beds and bath upstairs. Plenty of natural light. Free wifi great, although we all had trouble with mobile reception indoors and out, and we were with different carriers!

Pool a few steps away, and short walk to beach is gorgeous. Seems to be a thoughtfully developed property with great maintenance. Hope we get invited again!

Room Tip: Highly recommend a cottage and No.12 was great.

We spent a week here. The location is great. We rented bikes and could ride in Shipyard on the bike trails or to the Colugny Circle area. Had a private beach entry which was close. The condos are a little dated but everything is clean and well supplied. The grounds are kept up nicely. There are nice pools, tennis courts and gold available on-site. Very nice place to stay.

Worst Hilton Head resort experience! Mold in one bathroom, called maintenance several times, and killed roaches daily. Bed layout online didn't match what was there, made our stay uncomfortable. Do not recommend this resort!

Port O' Call is located right where you want to be...close to everything. My wife and I had a large 2 bedroom (in case we had our children with us) next to the activity center and pool. I must say that i was concerned it would be noisy in this location, but after 10pm it was nice and quiet. Some people have expressed concern that the property is not on the ocean - assuming you are able to walk, it is a leisurely 10 minute walk to the ocean...no lifeguard there, but the water and beach are great. The property has 2 pools - we used the one closest to us virtually every day - it was not crowded and the water was perfect. The resort is somewhat dated - and that is why i gave it 4 out of 5 stars and not 5, but it is well maintained, and clean...the king bed was perfect and the kitchen although not large, is well stocked. We wanted a relaxing vacation and that is what we got. We were not hassled about a sales presentation - we politely declined that offer and were not bothered by anyone chasing us to attend. Will be glad to return again next time I am in Hilton Head.

First of all, the mistake. Back in September we made a reservation for Port O' Call for a one bedroom. Port O' Call is only one of a few resorts that offer a one bedroom, if you are able to catch one. But this is our second visit to Hilton Head Island. The first time we came to Hilton Head Island was two years ago and we stayed in the Coral Sands Resort. Unfortunately we had to stay in the overflow so the place we stayed in was an apartment complex that was anything but a resort. When we checked in this time we discovered that the room we were getting would hold 8 adults. We mentioned that it seemed quite a lot considering it was a one bedroom. The young lady that checked us in questioned our reservation and we told her that we had a one bedroom. She checked the reservation and discovered that we had been put in a three bedroom cottage. She checked with the manager but they decided to leave the reservation as it was. So we ended up with a three bedroom cottage for just my wife and myself.

When we got to our cottage (10) we were flabbergasted to see how much room we had. The downstairs (yes, this is a two story cottage) contained the master bedroom and bath as well as a second bedroom with twin beds and an additional bath. The upstairs contained a third bedroom and separate bath as well. It also had two twin beds. The kitchen was large and spacious with a nice eat in area attached. There was a nice screened in porch that was right next to a creek with a water fountain that ran between 8am and 8pm. We did most of our breakfasts there on the screened in porch.

The master bedroom had a king sized bed which was a bit soft but not uncomfortable. The bathroom had plenty of light as the roof had a skylight that allowed a lot of the natural light in. The master bath also had a Jacuzzi tub.

We were extremely happy with the accommodations, however, to be honest. the furnishing were a bit dated. Although there was a flat screen TV in the living room with a DVD player, the other two rooms had old TVs and one of those was attached to a VCR tape player.

The location was extremely nice. There is incredible variety here in Port O' Call. There is golf and tennis, plenty of bike trails, access to the ocean and two pools. Most is within walking distance. Coligny Plaza is just a stones throw away and has all the shops, restaurants, and grocery shopping you could ask for. However HHI has just about any other type of shopping you could desire. If you can't find it in Coligny Plaza, you should be able to find it somewhere on the island.

Port O' Call is within the gated community of Shipyard Plantation. This is an 800 acre area that contains all kinds of wildlife. I played golf today and had to be careful not to bother the gaters near the course. This evening we went for a bike ride and saw three deer near one of the golf courses.

Final thoughts: If you want to take a relaxing vacation near the beach and slow down a bit, this is the best place I've found to do it. As someone said today, Hilton Head makes you slow down. It's not Disney and it's not Myrtle Beach. I think the tallest building is maybe 6 stories high. But relaxing and laid back it is.
