This is a double billing issue with Inn on the Square in Greenwood, SC. The double charge dates back to a reservation that my wife made for the rental of the Breakfast Room at Inn on the Square. On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2004, my wife came to Inn on the Square and reserved the Breakfast Room for two hours for a bridal shower to be held on November 13, 2004. At that time she paid a total of $55.35 ($25.00 per hour plus tax). It was made clear that the person at the front desk that this amount would cover the room reservation expense; $55.35 was then charged to our checking account via debit card.
The bridal shower was held on November 13, 2004 in the Breakfast Room - at this time no transaction was made at the front desk with our debit card. A few days later, we logged on to our online checking adn discovered that our account had been charged a second time. This charge, in the ammount of $55.35, was reflected in our account as taking place on November 16, 2004 - three days after the bridal shower. Clearly our account has been charged twice for the same reservation.
I spoke to Inn on the Square (Jim Hick) multiple times on November 16, 2004; December 3, 2004; and wrote a certified letter on December 14, 2004 requesting refund. The first two times we spoke on the phone, he (Jim Hick) claimed that he was trying to refund our charge of $55.35. When it was never refunded, he (Jim Hick)claimed that he would not be able to refund us since he just bought the establishment and was not responsible for transactions before the time he aquired Inn on the Square. I then mailed him (Jim Hick) a certified letter requesting refund and called him back. He (Jim Hick) told me it could take six months for this letter of request of refund to be processed. It is now six months later and no refund.
I filed a despute with the Better Business Bureau and the resolution that Inn on the Square and the BBB wants me to take is a credit for future use.
