I stayed at the Hilton Greenville while visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. I've stayed there many times before and quality of the front desk staff and the room is consistent from visit to visit. The weekend and holiday rates make this hotel a really good value for what you get.

I asked the front desk and the hotel was built in 1985 and the rooms were last renovated in 2005, so that must by why everything seems well maintained. Though don't expect hip decor and furnishings. The rooms are nice though still quite the traditional hotel style. Just as a personal opinion, I think the rooms are at least due for newer wide-screen LCD TVs. I think the square tube TVs in general are beginning to look a little ancient.

Everything worked in the room, from the bathroom fixtures to the wireless Internet, which was included in the price of the room. The bed is very comfortable with the mattress topper and different kinds of pillows (feather/down and foam). The bathroom amenities were Crabtree & Evelyn's La Source and included shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, hand lotion, shower cap, and of course, bars of soap. There's also a coffee maker with coffee and tea (and take away cups and lids), though I never use them.

The location of the hotel is convenient given that it's next to Interstate 385 that goes straight into downtown and the Bi-Lo Center. The hotel is also really close to Haywood Mall and there's a downtown airport nearby. Be aware that traffic can get really congested on Haywood Rd in front of the hotel and there's no left turn signal into W Orchard Park Dr coming from Haywood/385. One tip is that you can also get to W Orchard Park Dr from Pelham Rd as an alternative.

This is a lovely hotel. The room was very comfortable including a very comfy easy chair with an ottoman and a desk large enough to spread out on. The bed had lots of pillows and I slept really well!

The closet doors were mirrored and there was another large mirror in the room itself. The toiletries were of a more expensive variety and the bathroom even had a drawer in the vanity which could come in handy if you were staying for more than one or two nights. There were plenty of towels too!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I asked at check in about a good bbq place and the clerk called over another employee who weighed in with his opinion (Henry's Smokehouse) and then the clerk called to find out their hours and printed out the directions for me, without my even asking!

The location worked out well for me, and is near shopping and restaurants.

Finishing up my 2-day stay here, courtesy of a Priceline bid ($60/night). Was very pleased to have landed this property. Close to the freeway but you can't hear the traffic noise at all. Across from the Haywood Mall but didn't stop in there during my stay. The brand-new Hyatt Place is across the driveway.

Convenient to downtown (6 minutes) and northern state parks (about an hour away), the front desk staff were awesome. Special mention to Shana and Felice for their wonderful service. They treated me in the same way that I'm treated when travelling on the company dime. Very professional, warm, and welcoming. Stayed on the 7th floor. Furnishings are all upscale, comfortable, and well cared for. Only constructive wish is either to put a swivel base on the old school 25-inch TV or upgrade to a flat screen.

They've incorporated blackout curtains which I like since I like it dark for sleep. Only caveat was that the room door has a 1-inch clearance gap which allows the hall lighting to flow in, which defeats the blackout curtains' purpose. Had to put the bed roll pillow and bed cover at the gap to make my own "blackout" curtain for the room door. Doors could use pneumatic guides to slow door swing which can slam and make a lot of noise. Both items are small things but don't hurt the overall high rating I give to the Greenville Hilton.

Free parking, sumptuous lobby with a piano player, and nice bar/restaurant. Wireless internet is provided complimentary. I prefer a hard-wired connection for faster speed and security but the in-room jacks do not accommodate this variation - I'd hope that the management would try to set up a few rooms with the hard-wired option.

Housekeeping staff are friendly and eager to help out. My room was kept meticulously clean - great job!! Good quality towels and bath amenities by Crabtree and Evelyn.

This is a great base for Greenville business or to use to discover the area. Greenville is beautiful and the people are friendly. The Hilton would make nearly anyone happy!

  • Liked — Luxurious accomodations, classy hotel, and professional warm service
  • Disliked — Wireless connections only - no hard-wired option available

We stayed at this hotel twice in about a month, first in June on a Saturday night and then in July on a Thursday night. The only reason I make this note is for the Executive Level rooms and the lounge on this floor.

First, the hotel is a nice Hilton. It's located overlooking the 385 interstate and on the other side of the road is a mall. It has a nice lobby area for relaxing in the evening along with a lounge & restaurant. We did eat in the restaurant one night and there was mixed opinions from bland to good food. Depends on what you ordered, however the service was great and nice atmosphere.

The rooms were nice both times, and since I am a Diamond VIP, I was upgraded to 9th floor the first time, and to a speical Honors upgraded room on the 6th floor the second time, which was a nice corner room. The bed was comfortable and the room was good sized. Bath robes were in the closet along with the usual coffee makers. The room was quiet as we did not hear others around us, but could also be because we were at the end of the hallway and only had a room on one side of us.

The issue we had was around the executive lounge at this location and would not make any difference to those who did not stay on the 9th floor or given lounge access from other floors. But for the VIP members, this lounge is one that has started charging for alcoholic drinks. This may be a trend that Hilton is starting, as I am not sure, but it does take away from one of the reasons we stay at Hilton hotels enough to maintain Diamond Status. They also only offer drinks & horderves during the week, Monday - Thursday evenings. I was also disappointed in the breakfast. The first time we stayed on a weekend, there was only cold food, but the second time on a Thursday night, we found the same thing on Friday morning. It seems the things you normally expect to get in the executive floor lounge are not there or you have to pay extra for them. While this is just a small complaint to many, it is something VIP member do expect when staying at a HIlton with an executive floor.

If you do not plan on staying in the executive level, by all means it's a nice hotel in a nice area and I would recommend it to others.

Enjoyed our overnight stay At the Greenville Hilton very much - very nicely renovated property - spacious room with every ammenity - stylish decor - nice linens. Our room was on alow floor on top of a roof but the roof was covered in shingle rendering it somewhat more attractive- clever idea!! The hotel has free wireless (worked great) and tons of free parking. The staff were very helpful and clearly proud of their hotel and the town of Greenville (rightly so - its a wonderful town) - we will most likely stay there again (especailly for the total price of $90 thru' hotwire.com!) but will also consider The brand new Hampton Inn on the river downtown or The Westin (historical hotel downtown) because you can walk to everything from those hotels (but they cost twice as much as we paid at Hilton!) - whereas the Hilton is a 5 minute drive to downtwn. All-in-all - a very good experience!

  • Liked — high class - low price!
  • Disliked — not walking distance to downtown!
