I stayed at the Hilton Greenville while visiting relatives for Thanksgiving. I've stayed there many times before and quality of the front desk staff and the room is consistent from visit to visit. The weekend and holiday rates make this hotel a really good value for what you get.
I asked the front desk and the hotel was built in 1985 and the rooms were last renovated in 2005, so that must by why everything seems well maintained. Though don't expect hip decor and furnishings. The rooms are nice though still quite the traditional hotel style. Just as a personal opinion, I think the rooms are at least due for newer wide-screen LCD TVs. I think the square tube TVs in general are beginning to look a little ancient.
Everything worked in the room, from the bathroom fixtures to the wireless Internet, which was included in the price of the room. The bed is very comfortable with the mattress topper and different kinds of pillows (feather/down and foam). The bathroom amenities were Crabtree & Evelyn's La Source and included shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, hand lotion, shower cap, and of course, bars of soap. There's also a coffee maker with coffee and tea (and take away cups and lids), though I never use them.
The location of the hotel is convenient given that it's next to Interstate 385 that goes straight into downtown and the Bi-Lo Center. The hotel is also really close to Haywood Mall and there's a downtown airport nearby. Be aware that traffic can get really congested on Haywood Rd in front of the hotel and there's no left turn signal into W Orchard Park Dr coming from Haywood/385. One tip is that you can also get to W Orchard Park Dr from Pelham Rd as an alternative.
