“Perfect convenient get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

My husband found this place for my birthday get-away. We stayed tin the Carolinian room that has just been renovated. It had everything we needed and more than many B&B's. Loved the Charleston themed room and bathroom. The king sized bed had plenty of pillows and comfortable linens. There were chairs and an ottoman for relaxing and reading. Lori has just added a flat screen TV on wall above a faux fireplace. The fireplace provided a warm ambience for the cold season we were in. Want to come back to sit out on the private balcony with seats and table in warmer weather. The bathroom was spa-like with its jacuzzi tub and large glass shower but retained it's Charleston theme with iron work accessories and large wall mural. She has thoughfully added the touches of small bowl of chocolates, coasters and the usual shampoo. The bubble bath for the jacuzzi made warming up after a night out just delightful. Even added a touch of whimsy with a little rubber duck. Just outside the room is coffee/tea and cooler for soft drinks. Wine and cheese and crackers are brought to you on a silver tray on arrival if you wish. After a great meal out, we returned to find my hubby had arranged with Lori to have champagne chilling and the silver tray had been replenished with a heart-shaped cheesecake (awesome) and chocolate dipped strawberries! Breakfast was served in the dining room where we enjoyed meeting the other guests. I'm already looking forward to another visit to this special place. It is in walking distance to the Bi-Lo Center where many concerts etc are held and downtown Greenville businesses.

What a fantastic place. The owner is a great person who really cares about your stay in Greenville. When I bring employees in for training this is where they stay. They have never said anything but great things. My wife and I have stayed there when we needed time away from all the kids but wanted to stay close to home. (I live within 10 mils of Pettigru Place) I would recommend this place for everyone who loves comfort and great food. The breakfast is one of the best you will ever have. Really close to downtown in a great safe neighborhood. It is one block away from the Bi Lo center for concerts and hockey.

Room Tip: Eat dinner at Devereaux's downtown.

Other reviewers have said it already. It's a great place to stay. We arrived excited for an Avett Brothers New Year's Eve concert at the arena, right down the street. Lori greeted us and let us know that all of her guests were there for that concert. Her house is lovely and close to the Main Street (15 minute walk) and the Bi-Lo (though you don't hear any noise from it at all). Parking is in the back, so nice and safe. She's got cookies upstairs, and free sodas, teas etc. There's water in the rooms and in the fridge upstairs. She even offered us wine and cheese on arrival (don't know if this was because it was NYE, though).
Breakfast was big and yummy. We're vegetarians with other special needs, and we simply told her before we arrived, and then reminded her that we were those people. We were never made to feel like a bother and our food was just as big and lovely as the other guests.
Highly recommend it, and if you like rainhead showers, the jungle/Africa (?) room has a fantastic one that actually feels like rain.

Room Tip: The Brass Giraffe room has a very good rainhead shower, and is the only one on the ground floor. Bat...

Friends introduced us to Pettigru Place for a weekend getaway. What a lovely find! Lori made us feel very welcome and the B&B was just lovely. It was close enough to comfortably walk to downtown yet far enough feel like part of a comfortable neighborhood. The breakfasts were generous and tasty too! Definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: We saw all the rooms and they are all lovely. The two upstairs are a bit bigger which worked well fo...

My wife and I had an incredible stay in the Greene Room on the night of our wedding. Though we don’t live far from Greenville, we wanted to stay somewhere special before leaving for our honeymoon the next morning. We had considered staying at a hotel suite, but we are so glad that we chose this charming and refined bed & breakfast instead, as it provided a much more personal and intimate experience than we would have found in a hotel suite. Because our visit took place on a Sunday in December, the house wasn't full, which worked to our advantage, though I don’t suspect it would have been unpleasant at full capacity either.

The fireplace in the Greene Room was fully prepared for our use, and it worked quite well. The room was also furnished with a vase of red roses, which was a surprising treat. Our only complaint with the room was the size of the bathroom, which is on the small side, but it certainly didn't spoil our stay.

The location is very convenient, being close to downtown. The only downside of the location is the lack of yard space, since the adjacent buildings are close on both sides of the property, but the grounds are beautifully decorated and well maintained, providing a quaint experience in this historic district.

Lori, the owner, was extremely pleasant and accommodating throughout our stay: in the morning, for example, she helped us print our flight information, as well as copy other documents needed for our travels. Lori had also asked us if we had any special requests for breakfast, but we gave the chef carte blanche, which we didn’t regret. Scott, the chef, prepared an outstanding breakfast, which included banana-pudding French toast topped with a caramel sauce, which was out of this world, as well as bacon, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice.

Although we’re local, the next time my wife and I need a vacation from our daily grind, without the travel, we’re considering another stay at the Pettigru Place, and we’re definitely going to recommend it to any visiting family or friends.

Room Tip: The Giraffe Room, which is the only room on the first floor, has the largest and most contemporary b...

My wife and I stayed here on 10/25/2011. The owner, Lori, is on site and is very accommodating. She told us of a very good Tapas restaurant and we enjoyed it. We had the Rosamunde room and it was quite clean and the bed was comfortable. You can walk ( about 15 minutes ) to center city from this B&B. We plan on coming back in the Springtime.
