“Some of the best hiking in the country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

I have hiked every trail in this Park and would encourage that if you're in the area, to explore all this place has to offer.

“I come here often just to get away.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

This place has a great view of Table Rock and the Matthews Creek watershed. It has a nice little store that sells books and shirts and the like. You can hike down and connect with several trails at Jones Gap Park. Trails range from easy to strenuous. The trail down to Raven Cliff Falls is long but well worth it. Just bring bug spray in the summer. And the fishing on Matthews Creek is great if you can climb down to the secluded spots. It is always 7-10 degrees cooler than Greenville, which is great this time of the year. The only negative is that it attracts a lot of Harley riders and their obscenely loud bikes, so it isn't necessarily the quietest place in the mountains, but I can look past that for all of its positive attributes.

“One of the great outdoor attractions in Greenville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

This is an excellent spot to visit. The Rte 276 to the top twists and turns and would be a joy to drive with a performance car like BMW or Porsche, especially a convertible.

The scenery from the lookout is stunning. My friends from the flatland of Florida were very impressed by the mountains and all the forests below. There are numerous trails in that area. This is a great spot for a picnic.

The visitor center parking area gat opens usually around 8.30 AM. Be early if you want to beat the crowds

“Breathtaking and Awe Inspiring!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

If you are in the Asheville/Greenville area, do not miss this! First, see the view from the visitor center. Next, take a hike! We are relatively novice to hiking so we decided on the the red/waterfall trail that began about a mile from the visitor center. 2.2 miles one-way to a view of the waterfalls from across the valley. A must see/do!

“Breathtaking Views / Highly Recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

About 30 minutes outside Greenville, but well worth the drive. A very winding road takes you to the top of the mountain. History Buffs will enjoy the story behind the mountain area.

The is a Ranger Station and Gift Shop at the Parking Lot. Rangers are friendly and available to answer any questions.

The area is well-kept, good parking, nice picnic area, and easy short walk to a breathtaking Vista Point.

It's not well advertised, but when you can break away from the awesome views, maneuver the rocks to the left. It will lead you to very well-kept metal steps down to a short narrow walk through a crevice in a large boulder. From there, you can wind around to your starting point.

Again, it's an easy walk and so well worth it!! Enjoy!
