“The best views in the Upcountry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

This place is well worth the trip. An amazing overlook, beautiful trails, gentle breezes and wonderful wildlife. If you're a decent road cyclist, then ride your bike up the 6.5 mile climb and earn the view! Hail Caesar!

“Worth the view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

Easy access for all. Parking lot to view. There is a little shoot off path between two massive boulders to a more rustic path. The view will be the same but fun for the exploring ones. There are bathrooms. No fee. Can get really busy on the weekends. The drive there is winding and beautiful.

“Amazing View--Handicap Accessible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This park has a short, paved walkway and bridge out to an overlook where you can see the escarpment--the place where the mountains meet the piedmont area of SC. The views are amazing. Caesar's Head is visible from the overlook and sometimes you might be able to see Raven Cliff Falls in the distance. There is a diagram which maps the area so you can tell what you're viewing. A lot of people bring a picnic lunch and eat there at one of the picnic tables.

There is a Ranger's station and gift shop open until about 4 pm on weekdays. There are public restrooms inside the Rangers station as well as outside. The outdoor bathrooms are very basic and not always clean. The last time we went, the water was turned off at the sinks--yuck. I don't know if that is a permanent situation.

There are soft drink machines near the restrooms. I don't remember any food being available for purchase. The nearest food would be available just a little farther down Hwy 276 at a little stone house on the right--turn right from the Caesar's Head parking lot. It looks quaint from the road but inside is small and awkwardly laid out--not comfortable at all as a restaurant. I don't recommend the place since when I was there last a couple of years ago, I ordered a turkey sandwich and got a couple of deli-thin slices of turkey with mayo and a bag of chips for a lot more than it was worth. But if you're starving, you could get something there.

The park offers trails of varying length. We recommend Raven Cliff Falls trail, but be aware that it is about 5-6 miles round trip. You have to pay to park in the area across from its entrance--cash only in a drop box.

“Enjoy the ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Hairpin turns up a narrow two lane highway, with spectacular views along the way. Be sure to stop at a hidden local hangout, Bald Rock on your way up. You'll see the blue shed/ firemans' shed on your left, there is a widening on the shoulder just after that on your right, with a small foot bridge crossing the ditch. It doesn't look like much from the road, but take your camera and be prepared to be amazed. Once at Ceasar's Head, enjoy the Devil's Kitchen. Be warned that is not an eatery, and there are very few available in this area until you hit Brevard NC. Go just a few miles past Ceasar Head and just before the NC State Line, turn to your right and follow the signed to YMCA Camp Greenville. "Pretty Place" is at the very end of this road, on the far side of the camp, and well worth the extra effort. Absolutely stunning.

“More than just a scenic overlook”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

Of course the view was terrific, but so was the entire ride out to that part of the state. And there were a few turnouts along the way that were spectacular, like Bald Rock. Wow! One unfortunate circumstance was the great number of people who thought their dogs would enjoy the view. The path was crowded and blocked by these inconsiderate folks and there was the usual amount of dogs barking at each other. Ridiculous! Dogs don't care about the view - leave them in your cars, for God's sake! Instead of reversing our course, after leaving we continued further along the road for a while and, lo and behold, we entered North Carolina. Beautiful country.
