“Excellence is Served”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

I was in town for a business meeting with 18 colleagues for dinner. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and did a fantastic job, smooth and everything arrived together. The tables shared the Spicy Pimiento cheese spread... To..DIe..For. So good, that we ordered another. The Fried Green Tomatoes are a southern classic and Soby’s were above par.

For my entree, I thoroughly enjoyed the Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin with applewood smoked bacon, mashed potatoes, broccolini, with habanero butter sauce. The subtle heat from the habanero and the salty, smoky bacon with the juicy, flavored pork was treasured filled meal. I could have this meal, over and over and over.

The dessert however, was the only misstep. I had the warm apple tartlet. It was ordinary, lacked flavor and fell short of what I thought could have been a much better dessert. The presentation of all the food was wonderful which added to the appeal of a truly savored meal.

“Instant mashed potatoes?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

The atmosphere is great, with seating upstairs on the loft and below in the main area. The service is top notch. I deducted a point however for the food. Though mostly very good, I ordered a dish with their signature mashed potatoes. They tasted and looked like instant potatoes with a little tobasco sauce. They weren't very good and not what I expected from such a nice restaurant.

“Thanksgiving Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We ate twice at this restaurant. The first night was a typical restaurant menu and the second was Thanksgiving day. Both meals were fabulous. It was really cold while we were visiting (in fact, we encountered snow sleet and rain!) so we were happy this restaurant was right across the street. The beef stew was perfect. The specialty drinks were perfect. A great wine selection. And, Turkey day was packed but still, the wait staff greeted us warmly. The buffet was above par Southern style, home cooking. Loved the collard greens, the brined turkey and the creamed corn.

“The waiter was awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This past weekend we dined at one of our favorite restaurants in the Greenville area and yes that would be Soby's. This time the experience was made even more memorable by our waiter Michael. Even though he was also handling a very large party seated near us, we were never off his radar. Food was delivered quickly and his attention to detail amazing. The right wine was poured on asking and always with a smile. Soby's can be loud and energetic but for this couple who are young at heart it adds to the enjoyment of a good meal. The food is southern inspired but with a definite twist to the preparation and the deserts are awesome. So enjoy and do not count the calories. On the weekends I would highly recommend a reservation.

“Great meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Appetizers of spicy Pimiento Cheese served with baguette chips & the fried green tomatoes were great. Yum! Dinner was Crab Cakes with Sweet Corn Maque Choux, Mashed Potatoes, Haricots Verts & remoulade, The sweet corn Maque Choux was amazing. I had to recreate the dish at home & turned out a close replica. Lovely dinner, lovely place. Will return.
