THE SHORT: Don't eat here, terrible food, terrible service, extremely overpriced. It's a burger joint masquerading as fine dining.
Went into this new restaurant with high hopes. We had a party of 12 which naturally in this confined space took a bit of wrangling to get a table. We were set up in the back which was fine. My father, brother and I all had a beer at the bar, the selection of drafts was mediocre but the prices were ridiculous. $6 for a draft beer! After being seated a nervous waiter named Jaime G approached us like we had the plague (we had two small children) and took our drink orders. He came back later and doled out drinks and then we had to wait forever for our alcoholic beverages. Then he disappeared for a while. He came back and we were able to put in some appetizers and we were also ready to order but apparently he wasn't ready.
We were worried that the kids might be a little cranky but they were surprisingly just fine. He finally came back and took our order. I ordered the French Connection, medium I was surprised to learn that a 10 dollar burger didn't come with any sides. About 15 minutes later we are still waiting for our $8 order of miniature french fries, when the waiter comes back and informs us that he didn't have anymore veggie burgers, so two folks in our party had to re-order. At this point we felt like something might be a little bit off that he waited this long to tell us about being out of something. finally after 20 minutes the smallest order of french fries (called the trio or something) came out and they were cold and had the culinary inspiration of a middle school cafeteria. They were quite lack luster for a place that is a glorified, over-priced burger joint. I mean they actually reminded me of the crappy fries you got at Gable Middle School. They seemed like they were straight from the freezer and had parmesan dumped on them. They were also accompanied by what can only be described as a lemon custard donut filling passed off as a dipping sauce. So the fries were kind of a failure.
About 15 minutes later the food finally arrives to varied reactions from the family. When we asked the waiter which french connection burger was the medium, he had no idea and basically suggested that we figure it out. Two folks had ordered Mac and Cheese as a side dish and it turns out that it is a complete kids meal that is just chucked in the apps and sides section of the menu, or so it was explained why it came on a frisbee and with fries, weird but whatever. So myself and the other person who ordered a French connection tried to suss out who had what preparation of the burger that we had by cutting it in half. She cut hers first and discovered what looked to be medium. I cut mine in half just to make sure and discovered that the burger had not even been cooked. It was cold raw hamburger meet from top to bottom. It was literally a seared burger. I was actually not to unhappy about this chance to have some rare hamburger but thought better of it when i asked if they ground their own meat (they don't according to waitstaff). So at the urging of my family I sent it back (I think I have only done this like 3 other times in my life). This was met with a very frustrated attitude from the waiter. Literally 3 minutes later another burger materialized with the manager in tow. I've worked in restaurants all my life and i've never seen a burger cook that fast. He challenged me to cut open the burger in front of him to make sure that I couldn't complain. It was cooked all the way through (not medium) and looked quite strange but not wanting to complain further I just decided that it was safe enough and told the manager that it was fine. Upon further inspection, I found that it was covered in fryer oil. I've seen this trick a hundred times. So essentially I got a deep fried burger on the fly, and it was disgusting.
Everyone else began eating their food and seemed to have complaints about the flavor, quality, size, etc. for the price of the burger.
To cap it all off our non-existent waiter added an 18% gratuity and failed to inform us of it (I always hated my fellow employees who did this). That turned this dining experience from just terrible food to terrible food and terrible service. We didn't argue the gratuity or anything.
Overall the service at this restaurant was lack-luster and the food depending on what you got was mediocre to inedible. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Like I said at the top don't eat here, terrible food, terrible service, extremely overpriced. It's a burger joint masquerading as fine dining.
