“Long Term Guest Loves His Home-Away-From-Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2010

I spend 250 nights a year in hotels and I have been a guest at this Holiday Inn Express for eleven months. Actually, a member of the family might be a more appropriate term. I have never more had the feeling that my businness was appreciated than at this facility.

The people are well-trained and personable and are always willing to help. Erin, who is now the Sales Manager deserves special recogniton. Her great attitude and her competence have made the often dreadful life on the road a treat.

The rooms are comfortable, the hotel well-maintained and the location is convenient. Add to that a very good price value and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. If fact, I've had several family members stay here. Thumbs Up!

We love downtown Greenville, SC. We have enjoyed many vacations and business trips to Greenville and will return soon - juts not to the Holiday Inn Express. This was the first time at this hotel and it was a mistake. We have enjoyed staying at the Hampton Inn and the Westin Poinsett. Both were great experiences but we were trying to save money and decided to try the Holiday Inn Express. Upon check in we asked what restaurants were still open and were assured that many in the vicinity were open and were given a list. Nothing on the list was open. Not a big deal we got over it. However when we went to get into bed that night there were hairs all over the sheets. The clerk was very apologetic and moved us to a cleaner room with only one hair (heavy sarcasm here) on the sheet this time. We got over it though. The next night we were using the business center and the printer was not in working order. Since this was a business trip the business center was important to us and our trip. We asked the clerk for help and she stated that she could not help us. We set to work on the printer ourselves and finally got it working. Not 2 minutes later it again starts acting up this time because it is out of ink. I again asked the clerk for help. She was very unprofessional and said she didn't have any ink cartridges and had already told us she couldn't help with the printer. I explained that one of the reasons we were staying there was to have access to the business center and asked what other options we had in the area. She raised her voice and told us "you have no options, everything is closed, there is nothing I can do". To top it off her name tag said Darlene and when asked her name she pointed to the name tag and rudely said Darlene.
Upon check out the next morning when relaying the conversation with the morning clerk we found out her real name was Crystal and that she had put someone else's name tag on.

Great location right downtown with all the cute shops and restaurants, but no eggs or meat all weekend. Excuses made but on Monday morning when the weekend rush was gone voila there it was. Nice exercise room but only one treadmill worked. Excuse for not putting checkout bill under the door was to "save paper". Annoying cost cutting corners.

I might have the month wrong that we stayed here - I would have to go back and look at my business receipts. Our business booked pretty much the entire hotel for a business conference held off-site. There were thousands of people attending the conference and so every hotel in the near area was booked, and there were multiple people staying in each room (anywhere from 2-6). The staff were friendly upon check in, but when we started requesting extra towels/blankets - they could not accommodate everyones requests. Not knowing this, when people requested - they got really short tempered with us telling us that if we had "the proper number of people staying in each room, it would be no problem". Then at continental breakfast, they ran out of a lot of their food and did not go out to order more. The rooms were very nice otherwise.

I am sure this hotel would be absolutely wonderful and the staff kind if they were not so overbooked and understaffed. They were not prepared to handle such high volume, so I would not recommend this if you have a very large group staying.

Our reservation got mixed up by hotels.com but the staff at the Holiday Inn Greenville Downtown checked us in and told us they would straighten out everything so that we wouldn't have to wait. Erin (our favorite front desk assistant) gave us some great suggestions for dining and always greeted us upon entering or leaving. The cleaning staff did a super job and were always courteous. Once we parked, we never used the car until we checked out. We walked everywhere. There was lots to do and see and it was all within walking distance of the hotel. What a great time!

So I went to the downtown area at the beginning of August and wated a decent priced room that was clean. My wife told me to go into the Holiday inn Express, and at first I was very hesitant, but to my surprise, it was very nice. I called my wife in and we walked up to the font desk to a very nice smiling young lady of whom I believe was named, Erin. She greeted us, which is unusual these days, got us a room, asked if she could help with anything and guided us downtown, and recommended a very nice sushi restaurant for us to eat. We went to our room and was surprised at how clean and organized things were, like someone actually took time to clean and not just wipe things down because it is their job. a gentleman by the name of Dale was also on our floor and helped my wife open the door for some luggage, which was very considerate. We really enjoyed our stay and enjoyed felling respected and clean. we definitly reccomend this hotel to anyone.

I would definately stay here again the next time I travel to Greenville, SC for work or play. From the Check in, Erin was very professional & got me set up right away. Even suggested some places to walk to. Room was clean & the Internet worked very well..FAST. Comfortable bed...Always a plus. Probably the best value you'll get in Downtown Greenville.
