Its nice to have a good local Italian restaurant at your fingertips. And I truly WANT Davani's to be my favorite place. Oh, I can't tell you how I long for a local Italian joint that makes one swoon with delight at every bite. Unfortunately, Davani's falls flat in the flavor department.
It pains me to say this, because I believe it is important to support local businesses. But unless I'm trying to impress (and Davani's is an impressively beautiful restaurant)....I find myself opting instead for Carrabba's. And it all comes down to flavor.
Carrabba's flavors pop, Davanni's don't.
D's has a great following. And it could be a real gem. Their portions are huge (too large). Their culinary creations are far more adventurous and beautifully prepared than any chain's could ever be. But, upon leaving the restaurant, it is unlikely you will rave to anyone, about anything you have put in your mouth. And given the fact that your bill is going to be a rather large portion too, its just a shame.
There's a lot to love about Davani's. And with just a bit more seasoning it could even be your proverbial Italian Grandmother's favorite restaurant.
Maybe someone will accidently spill some salt back in the kitchen, and then notice how things are really taking off!
