“My Labor Day weekend @RGR”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2010

We had a wonderful weekend in GC and at RGR. Even though our rental may be different than others since we rented from the owner, we could not have asked for a better condo, location, amenities, etc, than what we had. Contrary to other reviews, the elevators were extremely reliable, clean, and well maintained. Also, the Staff encountered was extremely friendly and helpful especially Security and office personnel. Both the kiddie and adult pool were great; there wqas some sand in pool but what could one expect with 75 mph winds 1 day before and also being located within 19 feet of the sand. Lifeguards appeared to be well trained and watchful over their territory.

We stayed in a 1 bedoom condo on the 12th floor. It was more than comfortable and had a well stocked kitchen. While the building may be older, our condo was decorated nicely and was extemeley well kept-did not appear old or outdated. The view was fabulous. The elevators worked, all our appliances worked, the internet worked in my condo and it was peaceful. If I had listent to all these other blogs I wold have missed out on a great weekend getaway. I definitely plan on going back and requesting the same condo.

We have stayed at the Royal Garden last August and the location cannot be beaten if you are looking for a beach vacation. The condo's are a little tired when compared to a 5 star resort but still very comfortable for 4-6 people. This last trip we did have a few issues with the apartment (TV not working, needed extra chairs for outside) this was resolved with a new TV and chairs within 2 hours. There was a small stain on one of the carpets which I mentioned to reception, they asked when it would be convenient and cleaned all the carpets while we were on the beach.
We love the location, the staff are very friendly and the area has so much to do, also love the nightly fireworks on the beach which you can enjoy from your balcony.

Before you pay 300 a night, demand to see the room. Also use a card that will allow you to dispute the charges and if the private owned condo is as nasty as some are, leave and take it up with your card company. After Sea Breeze Realty loses their ability to Charge to Visa, there condo's will improve.

We booked a 10 day stay with Dunes Realty from June 29th for 10 night's and it was a nightmare. The condo was on the second floor the view a beautiful but the elevator was broken, the ac was broken and it was so hot in the place that my laptop had to be stored in the car. Our clothes were wet from the heat and all had to be dry cleaned. If you moved your vehicle you lost your parking spot and had to park a mile away at Dunes realty and walk . Parking is horrible.. There is not enough parking.. It was a disaster. The beach was crowded you could not move, the pools were dirty, the walk way's were past filth and the noise level.... we had to try and sleep in the living room with the patio door open due to no air in July. We had a condo that was one that was called a "private own" & the so called and the owner had several of those and he was out of the county and it could not be fixed by maintenece he did his own work?????. There was no remotes to the TV's, the blender was broken the dryer did not work, and the phone was torn up and so on etc... Never again....Outdated, and filthy..If they would have cleaned even beside the bed it would have helped. There is no refund once you pay in full..and it was expensive. The internet did not work ....The list is far to long to list..Don't even book for here and the beach is not nice it is nasty.

Stayed at 1114. spectacular view of ocean and up and down beach. Quiet and peaceful. Area has all the amenities you would want on a vacation. close to all the best food places on the strand.....south to Murrells Inlet. Shopping is abundant. The facility is operated by friendly and courteous people. They go out of their way to make u welcome. It is the BEST place on the Myrtle Beach strand. Clean and comfortable. Will be back.

I have to say that I read these reviews before staying at the hotels and almost didn't stay here because some of the things that were said about this place. I am not sure what people are expecting from this hotel. Compared to other hotels in the Myrtle Beach area, this is a VERY economical. We stayed on the second floor between Aug 11 - 15. The elevators worked fine. We never had a problem and rarely had to wait more than a minute for the elevator to the ground floor to arrive.

The room was clean as is expected of most hotels that I have stayed in. Nothing out of the ordinary on that front.

The outdoor pool did have sand in it. But, with staying on the second floor above the pool. It was obvious that most kids ran back and forth between the beach and the pool without rinsing off between the two. So, sand in the pool was to be expected.

In general the area and the hotel were very quiet. There were several times that me and my 20 month old daughter had the indoor pool all to ourselves.

I will have to say that I understand with all hotels that people are going to have their rough stays. I must admit that I had a great time at this hotel and will be staying at it again in the future.
