This rating is for a Motel 6 I feel is above average for the typical Motel 6 that I've stayed in.
The rooms are very small and not suited to a large family, but the room we had was clean. The linens were changed both days we were there (you have to request this service though, otherwise it's every 3 days). The carpets could use a deep cleaning, but we didn't have nasty, dirty feet from walking on it. I think most motels could clean their carpets every few weeks.
This motel is pet friendly and we happened to have a 100 or so lb. dog next door. He barked off and on while his owner was out, but quieted down around 9:00 p.m. I wasn't ready for bed at that time, but would have called the manager if I was. The policy is that pet's can't disturb other guests.
The staff at the front desk was very friendly and personable. No problem with check in.
The motel is "locked down" at night. You have to have a room card to access the outside doors in order to get in to the motel.
The pool is small, but adequate, but we didn't get to use it due to maintenance. I was a little disappointed with that since my grandson really wanted to swim. This, however, wasn't the fault of the motel.
This is an interior corridor motel (which I hate), so you can hear every sound from every person coming down the hall. I've found that this has nothing to do with the price of the room. The interior corridor rooms that I've stayed in that are priced above 150.00 a night are the same. I don't care how thick the doors are, you're going to hear everything happening out in the hall.
The Cons: Interior corridor - you can hear everyting going on in the halls.
Very small rooms
Pet friendly - Hey, I have a 60 lb. Lab but I don't take her to motels with me
even though she's very well behaved and doesn't bark unless someone
threatens me. She stays with family when I'm gone.
The Pros: Very good price.
Right across the road from Carowinds.
Clean rooms.
Friendly staff.
Seems to be a safe area.
Park your car and walk to Shoney's for breakfast. KFC, Wendy's, one
Mexican restaurant, one Italian restaurant, and the Cracker Barrel, walk or
ride.
Summary: Very good motel for the price. I wouldn't want to stay here with my whole family for a week, but a couple of days with my grandson was good. We were in close proximity to Carowinds, which was our destination. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
