“An Annual Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

Our family takes an annual trip here every year. We rent a different rental every time right on the beach. We usually take around 15 people and all the houses are spacious and accommodate well. Not that you'll be spending much time inside anyway!
This is truly a paradise, coming from dismal Cincinnati. The beach is just beautiful and huge! The tide is out during the day and there is atleast 100 yards of beach before the ocean so there's plenty of space and it's never crowded. I never feel as though I'm at a popular vacation spot because every one is so spread out. There was one rainy day last year but it was not wasted! Charleston is only 8 miles from Folly Beach so we went in and did some shopping and needless to say it's my favorite city I have ever been to. Everything looks as though it's in a different era! This truly is paradise and it is still incredibly enjoyable despite the many family feuds we had during the stay. All the stress and tension between people faded whenever we sat on the back porch, listening to the waves beat and the salty air whip our hair. I hope we return back every year!

“A great place to spend a month over Xmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2012

I spent a month over Christmas 2011 in this fantastic town. My two teenage sons joined me for two of those weeks. The beach is wonderful - 5 miles long so there is plenty of space! It was winter but there were lots of days above 70 and even when it was in the 40s and clear the beach was a beautiful place to be - just wrap up well! The town itself is compact and very friendly. The restaurants, cafes and bars we went in were all good and some were just excellent. If you like global coffee shops and chain restaurants then this isn't the place for you. If you like unique, quirky and relaxed then this is for you. See my reviews of individual places and things to do. We'll be back.
